Conventional pulls are awesome. If someone posted a video of a 420 sumo and a 400 conventional? i know what lift I prefer to watch. I understand Yury Belkin for example can pull a huge weight sumo, but I prefer watching a strong conventional pull any day. Just my preference. I even prefer hitched conventional to sumo. Wish they would ban it!

Just personal preference. They are different lifts to me and shouldn't be called the same. If a 400kg sumo deadlift appears on my feed I don't even watch it. Not relevant to my sport and not something I'm interested in.

AKA the great reset Member 4056, 5206 posts | If someone pulls more sumo, then do it for competition, by all means. I suppose sumo on a stiff bar isn't quite as bad, but some sumo pulls on whippy bars look like they are only raised a few inches off the ground. what's that all about? A conventional pull is more awesome to watch IMO. It just looks a stronger movement. But each to their own. I still respect sumo, but not near as much as someone pulling the weight conventional. Before anyone gets their knickers in a twist, I am well aware the majority of strong sumo pullers could conventional my max for reps. I hardly ever watch any videos of sumo. would rather skip by them.

I think doing sumo pulls is a good accessory movement for carryover, but I prefer conventional. Just my 2 cents! Nothing personal to competitors that prefer sumo.
