Backlift was an old time classic lift where you literally bent under a platform e.g. a huge board or a boat or some other such large object, positioned yourself so most of your back was in contact with the object and then pressed it off a set of tressles.

As for my damned deadlift, when I first started lifting at 16 I could pull 227.5kg at 72kg bodyweight, no matter how hard I tried it never moved past that. When I came back to lifting when I was 30 I pulled 285kg at 110 in my first year and 10 years later I was still only at 310 no matter how hard I trained it. Damn I hated that lift.

Bench press to push press, definitely.

Change bench press to floor to overhead anyhow. That would be an anwesome comp.

I like it the way it is. Much as I enjoy them, I think there's a case for replacing the shirtlift with a real bench press, but no more than that Happy.

I'd replace deadlift, because I'm hopeless at it. I'd like to see it replaced with playing tunes on one's teeth with a pencil, which I can do fantastically well.

The only problem I have with that is that it is then 2 powerlifts and one Oly lift. Now I suppose if you were to do away with the snatch and combine the 2 sports that would be cool.

If I could change one lift, I wouldn't bother. It's great just the way it is. Sad to see so many taking the cowards way out and changing their worst lift instead of trying to improve it. Shame on you all.

Not too sure Will, they are wierd though.

It is much better to press stood up rather than lying down.

I agree with Fat Pete, most people can't lift enough weight on floor to overhead to call it 'power'lifting - a sport which is supposed to be about loading plates to the bar.
