ibuprofen isn't a pain killer, I'm also not a big fan of pain killers

Anti inflammatory = indirect pain killer.

Does it not treat the source of pain rather than just cover it up though? As in....you're in pain because your tendons are inflamed. You take an anti-inflammatory... your tendons are no longer inflamed. Pain disappears because the source of the pain has been fixed?

Plus I feel if your body is that sore that's trying to tell you something and blanking pain out could cause bigger problems
Not disding the regular users of pain killerscjust giving my outlook

I think this is a pretty sensible outlook imo.

Shows you how much I know I thought it was a pain killer as well, I think I am getting mixed up with co-codamal or something
When I got home after surgery I was given a massive box of ibuprofen and tramadol did not take either just used ice and tried to cope with pain, not trying to sound tough but I know a few people who have got messed up on pain killers and prescription drugs and would rather avoid

I think it was a sensible aproach after surgery Andy. I took what they gave me the first night after my sergeries then tried to do without it. I worried that masking the pain would hinder my rehab as I might do things I shouldn't

I used tramadol over the new year when a tooth fell apart and every dentist was shut. WOW. Lay on my bed for 28 hours, happy as larry. Will never touch it again though.

Ibuprofen I take just before I want to go bed if I have had a hard session, thats it.

It does have analgesic properties and this is all the effect you will get at low doses. You need to take a pretty big dose to see anti-inflammatory effects.

I would strongly suggest not taking ibuprofen, diclofenac or other NSAIDs regularly as they are very hard on your stomach lining and also your kidneys, both of which you don't want to f**k up.

Some of you guys seriously worry me.

Do you appreciate the drugs you are taking here? Just because you can buy them in Boots doesnt mean you can pop them like Tic Tacs!

Remember not to use them if asthmatic as it can bring on an attack! That was news to me, I was taking them to help with my torn bicep last year and didn't make the connection bewtween that and me having chest problems until I asked the doctor...

First session of the week my left elbow/arn hurt less.

By the end of the week my left elbow/arm hurt more.

Yes I will take time off and rehab injuries. I'm doing this because of an upcoming comp. After the comp next week I will drop all NSAID and start rehab etc. No point of dropping out of a comp and wasting 12 weeks of training for minor aches and pains.
