Okay last heavy session before next weeks meet. Worked up to circa openers. Exception was deadlift where I took and missed 275. The 255 lured me into thinking it'd be no probs Happy Lacked a bit of focus and aggression to work through that mini-max today.

TBH feeling a little jaded atm. My weight is down to 93. Which is 2kg less bloat than same time before last meet. Plus I really pushed hard since last meet and maybe more fatigue now.

Apart from a little bit of work to grease the groove, I have 7 days now before my meet to recover. Still all to play for!!

Hope so. Am actually very interested in seeing how much I can recover in that time. TBH I felt in better shape at the end of last RTS phase. I think the harder smolov jr type phase took more out of me than it has before. Not to mention back niggle at the start of that and finger injury....

.... yes like any good lifter the excuses are lined up!

So bit of a catch up.

South West Open Champs, Cheltenham, 13/4/14

Squat;
240
250
260 miss

Bit of a faff on the warm ups on the squat. Flight before me ran much quicker than expected and ended up racing through second half of the sets. Dont think I caught my breath till after 1st attempt lol Anyway 240 was very nice. 250 was tough and didnt execute well enough. Was tighter on PB attempt of 260 but after a big effort couldnt keep it moving through mini max. Valiant effort but too heavy that day.

Bench;
145
155
162.5 miss

Felt good on the bench. Both 1st and 2nd attempts moved as should be and felt the 3rd attempts was def there. Alas dont think I was clean enough off the chest and line just off foward. Stalled early on with no hope of pushing on. Was quite annoyed at that one.

Deadlift;

270
277.5 miss

Following on from bench, deadlift was same pattern. Opener and 2nd felt good. On 3rd attempt it came of the floor fast for me and for a split second thought I was going to nail it. However the bar got forward of me by just enough. Muscled it back in line but was out of poss and out of energy. Bailed on it just below knees. Gutted again on this one.

Total 675kg (2nd biggest)

So it was a decent day overall with some solid lifting, but not good enough on the day to nail any pbs. Def a swing and a miss at 700 Happy

TBH I was feeling similar during last stages of training. Good but not 100% sharp. Didnt peak well enough.

I took last week off only to strain my mid back pushing my son and shopping up a big hill im Exmouth on hols lol Thankfully its recovering well. This week its no loading of back or avoiding full extension. Basically means feet up benching and fluff. Have done two sessions which I'll put up later.

Next week back proper and will be doing a few blocks of work back to RSR/RMR based stuff.

I really the execution on this 255. Probably the best heavy squat I've seen you do tech wise. Looked like you could squat the world. More was there that day for sure.
