13/1/14

SBSquat (beltless, oly shoes);
25*10
75*5
105*3
125*2
145*1
165*1
185*1 ugly

Just a little bit if work yestarday at CF Solent. Plan to use the SB as a quad dominant squat movement for a while. Felt decent today until I hit 185kg when the bar got me all out if poss. Which I should have seen coming as thats the goal if the bar!

Gona do a Crossfit total on thurs. After that will prob take rest of week of from any real lifting. Prob just some fluff on Sat.

Cheers.

Yep. Minor tear near a disk. Didn't squat or dead from May to Sept last year.

Friends have uploaded them on FB. I'll get them at some point in next week or two.

16/1/14

Crossfit total @ Crossfit Solent

Squat;
220x1
230x1
240x1

Nice squatting overall. The bars are dam flexy and made worse with oversized bumper plates, but 220 and 230 felt comfortable. 240 however felt a bit 'off' when walking it out. Still got it but it was a bit scrappy and a max for today on this kit.

OHP (from the rack);
70x1
80x1
85x1

Out of my comfort zone now. Quick change over an warm up. 85 wasn't bad but only couple of kgs left at best. That's the OHPs done for the year lol

Deadlift;
240x1
260x1 (run out of space on bar)

Deads felt decent. Flexy bar no doubt helps if you can get used to it. 260 was comfortable enough. Finished there as couldn't get any more weight on the bar. Had to use bands to keep the plates on as no room for clips.

Total- 585kg

Over 100kg more than the current gym record. Not bad with sub max dead and a lift I never do.

Rest of the week is pretty much easy time. I'll train sat but just do some light BB stuff to keep limber.

Back too it!

Floor press (narrow grip);
barx10
60x5
80x4
95x3
110x6 @8
102.5x6 @7
102.5x6 @7.5
102.5x6 @8
102.5x6 @8.5

Saftey bar squat;
barx10
65x5
105x4
115x6
135x6 @8
130x6 @7.5
130x6 @8
130x6 @8
130x6 @8.5

Training starts proper today post divisional champs. Now going to use an RTS method to prescribe load and volume per session. Thus using RPE to work up to a specified performance, then using a % drop in load for the down work. Other than that still pretty normal stuff using 3 week blocks of volume and intensity work. Using a bit more variation for a while and see how it fairs.

Monday is supplementary lifts for squat and bench. Working mainly higher rep ranges. SB work is being used as a quad dominant lift that is low stress on the shoulders and arms. Plus I get some extra, and novel, core work from it. Erectors working hard today. Floor press with narrow grip is being done for a bit more tricep dominant work on the press. I tried a CG at first but just felt rough on arms and shoulders so settled on a narrower grip as opposed to a truly CG.

Next up meet wise is the SW divisional Champs in April in Cheltnam.
