It would be nice. The record in the 90's is 227.5kg. Although I think by the time that I am anywhere close it will be moved on by now. A guy (Jeffries?) was very close to it at the English Champs.

Good stuff on the board pressing, knocking on the door of my PB (180x3 raw 3-board) at 50kg lighter!

Three or four, depending on where you stick. For me three is perfect, but Pete (with similar length arms and a bigger chest) is not much better from three than from his chest; four does it for him.

Ricks right. I have tried a 4 board but for little old me it was pointless! I stick with 2-3 boards. I feel the 2 board is a bit more usefull for my raw work whilst the 3 board is very close to my equipped bench strength. Floor pressing is anothe rgood option. I like it alot as an assistance lift to my unequipped bench.

Wow, strong board pressing Iain.

Are you enjoying benching at the moment? I hate it and I suck at it. I know benching is your weakest lift relatively speaking - you done anything different apart from (gasp) just getting on with it?

The latter. I am enyoing the equipped benching as it dose lend itself to my strength when benching ie lockouts. Still getting some decent raw work in though. I should be benching more really. I think it's down to being a pussy. Possibly the geared work may help in handling heavier weights. Really need to move my unequipped bench on towardas 160 nxt year. This will help my equipped lifting to.

I will start with a 4 board for a couple of weeks then try a 3 board. When you bench to your chest now do it feel alot lighter on the joints because your lifting 10 to 20k heavier on the board presses? Also do you use a closer grip?

10-20kg heavier? Try 40 lol! I have not noticed that board work has made my normal benching feel lighter.

Board presses are good for equipped benching and general tricep strength. However once you get to the 3 board I don't think they will help your raw bench much. Unless of course the last few inches is the place where you fail raw?
