Just watched some lad half squat his way up to a 200kg half squat tripple.

I really wanted to say something like "you are plenty strong, but why don't you complete the 2nd half of the movement?"

But frankly I didn't want to be 'that guy'

So I'm going to open the floor to the oracle of reason that is Sugden barbell and ask, is it right to involve yourself in what others do in the gym? Is bad form or half repping something that needs to be pointed out and corrected for the greater good / extra karma points, or just let them get on with it until they get hurt or give up?

For what it's worth, plenty of BB'ers with Tom Platz-esque legs in the gym I go to do half rep squats.

I don't see why people hate on half squats.

Some huge legs were built on them. Not everyone's competing.

I guess if you are all about building mass on the quads, a high squat is a great movement.

I wasn't too sure what this guys motivation was as he was working up to a triple, with a belt on and wearing those chunky jogging shoes with the foam soles?

I could care less about other people's workouts, but I am a person who will say what's on my mind if I feel the need. Do it! Just do it. Have your friend secretly film him while training and when you pop the question. Others would be interested in seeing the outcome.

If he comes and asks - help and advise him

I do belive that the fellow in question has just posted on the BB forum that 'some guys in the gym are squattin low and this will not build mass in the quads'...'should I tell them to reduce the depth and concentrate on the feel as they are bound to fuc, up their backs doin it like that?.......

I was once told this myself in a heath club type gym...

That old chest nut lol....I use my inner voice..I try not to involve myselve with other ppls workouts unless asked.also...someone may look like a bit of a dick if they half squat then brag...but you'll look far worse if you go marching and saying wow wow wow,
