Hi,

well, i have the problem of knees caving in during heavy squats, i read a post on the internet that said that this was caused because of weak gluteus muscles.

So my question is... if i start doing some serious hip trusts (heavy) will this help me add power to my gluteus fast? or there is another best exercise?

make sure you make an effort to push your knees out whenever squatting, even on lighter reps. do an advanced search on knees caving in on www.startingstrength.com

Just make a conscious effort not to let your knees move inwards!

No need for fancy remedies!

It's probably not a problem anyway. Just your body finding its strongest position.

I think I've seen 1 video of you squatting - and it looked fine.

i just found out a few posible solutions:

1) is doing hip Side Lying Clams.
2) this sounds very interesing and simple... doing ONE LEG squats. I read that doing that will force my gluteus to activate to keep balance. I like this one because is %100 i will be activating the gluteus if not i will fall.

i think i will start doing one legged squats for a while and keep the squat sessions medium heavy to make sure i dont cave in.

I would say f**ked knees would be a problem.

Besides, glutes hams are stronger than your quads in terms of moving the heaviest weights.

This is true that your knees moving inwards are due to weak glutes, i had this problem but for some reason (althrough i knew it was do to glutes all along) i changed nothing and it just went away Confused

only thing i can thing of is my stance changed alot, so maybe thats why Confused

Is it due to excessive eye movement? Grin

Stick with the single leg work, lunges or split squats... it helps a lot with this problem.

They've helped a little bit (I find they've helped other lifts/events more) but I think working on keeping the knees out, maybe heavy lunges too (I like these) will help.

Too much fancy s**t - adopt a slightly wider stance and make a conscious effort to keep the knees in line with the feet as you drive up. That will fix it.
