THE HIGHLAND STRONGMAN event hosted by Forge Gym will take place in Northern Meeting Park, Inverness on Saturday August 17th commencing at 7pm.

The event will feature a host of entertainments including the battle to be crowned "The Highlands Strongest Man 2013".

The events this year will be Farmers Walk, Deadlift Challenge,Tyre Flip, Yoke Walk, Log Press and then the mighty Inverness Stones!

6 stones must be lifted in all, and the event will feature the first attempt to repeat the feat achieved by the Stonemason in 1822 - a 18 stone (252lb) stone launched over a 5 foot bar. After that you have stones of 80, 100, 120, 140 and 160kg to be lifted to various height platforms. Any competitor failing to get the Stonemasons Stone over the 5 foot bar will NOT be allowed to continue the rest of the Stones. This is a real test of power and our 2013 winner will have to be pretty awesome, not a pretty boy!

The event is free to enter, and Northern meeting park is a grandstand style venue. This will be heavily promoted by the Council and you can expect to be competing in front of a decent crowd.

All potential competitors please pop your names down in this thread, drop me a message on Facebook, or text me on 07519 580 948. The event is open to any competitor of any weight who has NOT previously won a Strongman show.

Im interested in competing this year, Gavin (assuming this is Gavin!) do you have any more details on the events, weights, reps, etc?

And have you a cap on the number of competitors?

And the northern isles strongest man, a shame as I enjoyed this comp 2 years ago and opportunities to compete in the north east are somewhat limited as it is.

10 competitor max.

Date - this was decided by the council, we can't just get the northern meeting park whenever we want, sadly Happy

Thought that might be the case, the fraserburgh one is part of a gala day too so they have no choice on date either. I'm sure it'll still be a great day.

Sems to be something about that date, we have ours in Shetland that day as well, only date we could get the venue.

If an open comp in Inverness falls at a time I am free i would definately be keen to do it though
