I don't particularly have "check-ups", however, I eat pretty healthy, don't drink excessively (very often anyway) and try to periodically do phases of cardio for a few months at a time to improve my general fitness.

But I'm 38 and no longer think I'm gonna live forever like I did when I was 20 so I can understand why some people don't bother. (not talking about you mate, either)

EDIT: ^ see a perfect example!! Grin Grin Grin

I never bother with doctor's checkups, nothing ever seems to be majorly wrong with me tbh. Think it would take something pretty serious for me to get off my arse and make an appointment.

I don't TRY to be super healthy but I do think my diet and habits lend me a healthy lifestyle. Eat wholesome food for pretty much all my meals, don't smoke or anything, and only drink once every few weeks. I think a lot of the things that have a positive effect on training have a positive effect on health anyway.

If I didn't train I'd probably eat a bit more junk food and drink more often but I would still be mindful of the effects it has on my body further down the line.

I just try a healthy life style with in reason, I'm active pretty much stress free and I'm not morbidly obese so that's close enough for me.

I would like to maybe drink much less and eat better most of the time but I'm working on that.

I walk and try to cut back on smoking. I prefer to eat healthy food most of the time. I just feel like crap if I've eaten a massive Chinese (my body feels like crap for a few days, nothing mentally crap.)

Blood pressure, cholesterol, blood sugars etc. were all fine last time they were checked.

Just need to get some silly injuries under control.

General check-ups aren't really meant for 20-40 year old lifting men. Parameters like blood pressure, cholesterol, fasted blood sugar are more often than not normal in this demographic and realistically only identify things in the older patient population.

Also it takes decades of this stuff (unless you have a genetic predisposition) to f**k your body up, not a year of gaining weight.

I have a horrible diet but keep track of my pulse, blood pressure (always high) , peak flow etc. I want born healthy so I tend to monitor it more than most.

I dont drink much or smoke, d0 cardio when my lungs are well enough and eat a varied diet though I eat too much sugar and fats.

I have a yearly check up, full blood works, but only 'cause I'm diabetic

If I wasnt, I'd imagine I wouldn't have been the doctors since I was 18....

in my 20's and 30's I took no care over my health and consumed all kind of things in excess now im into my 40's having snapped a tendon and suffering from arthritus I'm now much more carefull about what i consume.

I think this is something that comes naturally with age once you realise you aren't invinsible.

I don't worry about it at all tbh. I eat Mc'donalds everyday, binge drink every weekend etc., I know its probably not ideal but you could get hit by a bus tomorrow. May as well enjoy life and do as you please (within reason, such as not doing heroin or stupid s**t like that, being an actual alcoholic etc.)

Glad you posted on here

I am paying far more attention to my health these days I really did have the attitude of f**k it it will be okay and not to worry about it but after having abit of a "scare" really cleaned up my diet and increased my cardio and general day to day activates

Been back to the doctors last week and my blood pressure is still sky high and having a couple more tests done tomorrow

End of the day i gained 10 stone in what can only be about 3-4 years surviving off a solid diet of takeaways junk food and binge drinking the realisation I may have well f**ked myself is starting to become realistic just hoping its not to late to do something about

It is suggested that we start to develop fatty streaks in our vessels as early as 10 years old, but that doesn't necessarily mean your "arteries will be clogged". It is an ongoing process that takes decades, but change now would reduce the risk of heart issues later in life.
