Wayne_Cowdrey | Have you ever kicked a door down? | 10-03-2015 @ 01:22
Still got a little bit of strength Member 400, 22047 posts | Thought this might be a fun topic for a strength forum I've done a fair few over the years! (I've been dealing with very challenging behaviours for 12.5 years and the need for this has cropped up now and again.)

Sugdens crazy old person. Member 4936, 7288 posts SQ 270, BP 155, DL 270695.0 kgs @ 100kgs UnEq | We built/welded door rams for the police. Smashed some doors in with them. I have my share of windshields I shattered

Member 2216, 2243 posts | Yeah, could do it when I was a kid. Old yale locks dont stand up to much abuse. Bit tougher these days with the uPVC jobs with multiple bolts.

Member 4145, 1331 posts SQ 172.5, BP 115, DL 220507.5 kgs @ 100.4kgs UnEq | On two occasions it's been required of me. Once I was locked in my bathroom, once got locked out of flat. Failed both times. It's a lot harder than it appears on TV! Also in my defence it was in a very confined space so couldn't generate any power

Help me rescue my Insulina. Member 5366, 1090 posts | I've done a couple of wooden doors with standard lock sets, makes you realise just how insecure they really are. If someone really wanted to be in, they would. UPVC on the other hand as has been said is a lot harder as there's a lot more locking points and it tends to bend/flex in certain spots. Usually always a few sweet spots you can hit with a 'big red key' to make it light work.

Lost his pen, then found his pen. #phew Member 4899, 2956 posts | All a locked door is a deterrent - there is no lock or security system that has been or likely ever will be designed that will prevent someone getting into it - the deterrent is just there to make it less likely someone will try. For example, all the Gold in Fort Knox (or the Federal Reserve in NYC) is a highly attractive target - with enough resources you could get conceivably get in and out with the loot. But to do so you would have to basically be prepared to declare war on not just the United States but every single other Country will gold in the repository - so everyone, more or less - and have a plan to evade capture for ever more afterwards. Again, conceivable but incredibly unlikely. Not an incredibly relevant point to this discussion - but there you go.
