iv been contemplating going back 2 training bodyparts on seperate days and using high reps... After sticking 2 a push, pull (deads), squats routine and using anything from 5 to 1 reps, im really not sure what 2 do?? Interested how some of u approach high reps and do u think repping out and hitting failure contributes 2 strength or just plain muscle building.....?

i think they key is what you do other than the sets of 5 like eating sleeping assistance work stretching well and not going to 100% of your max too often. im not sure body building type stuff will do anything other than condition your muscles to higher reps

Personally, I think for every rep over 5 you add on the improvement in strength will be ever diminishing. When I was BBing I rarely went over 8 reps and generally did 6-8 to failure on the majority of exercises.

Whilst I was big I was particularly strong from a limit strength point of view but my strength endurance was pretty good. I was able to hit 90% of my max squat for 12 reps at one point.

High reps make you good at high reps. Not heavy weights.

Sure they should have a place in your program - but they cannot be a substitute for higher intensity training otherwise you'll get weaker.

This - high rep lower body stuff just wipes me out with DOMS for days - benching heavy then a back off or two is easy to recover from

totally the wrong plan for strength building mate , less is more rep wise , maybe up your volume i.e exercises but certainly not your reps.

Good point m8, i think its more that im bored with my routine! Mayb i could change it 2 bodyparts, but still keep the compound movements and keep the rep range in the 3 - 5... After all at this moment in time strength is my goal not size...

I would of thought the best time to do high reps would be training for an event like log or deadlift. seeing how many reps in the time limit you could get. for example 100kg log as many reps as possible in 75seconds
