Anyone know if there's any laws regarding ventilation/air conditioning in gyms?

My gyms a converted squash court so it has no windows and no air con, so I want to complain in an attempt to get some - and it would help my case if there was some relevant kind of legislation

I very much doubt it. Unless you could prove that they are creating a health hazard through insufficient ventilation, but you aren't working there so you would find it difficult to complain about something you are volunteering to do.

The law states that fans can be used in the workplace to increase airflow and cooling if air conditioning is not possible, but you cannot force someone in that environment (i.e. not refrgierated / no likelihood fo exposure to harmful particles/gasses) to install air conditioning.

I thought it was a long shot! I might try and get a job there next year so I might have some influence then.

Otherwise.. Yeah I might try another gym

No, there are no laws or legislation for a maximum temperature, only a minimum.

The gym I work in is a fantastic gym, equipment is awesome, staff are great ( Grin ) but it's in a building that wasn't really designed for it's current purpose, and we suffer in the summer as the windows are small and there is no AC, only fans.

Kinda sucks, but it is what it is.

its a suggestion rather than a law/legistlation

however, they are pretty low, and as soon as someone suffered from it being too cold (or excessively hot) the employer would be charged under section 2.1 of the health and safety at work act which states It shall be the duty of every employer to ensure, so far as is reasonably practicable, the health, safety and welfare at work of all his employees.
