She is within the rules, and there arent exactly many long armed IPF world record benchpressers out there.. But damn.. anyone know what her best deadlift is?

I was actually expecting a much bigger arch. In addition to the current ruling there should be a new one which dictates that a 12 inch minimum rom is required.

I agree it's a silly lift, but what would you do about the person who gets an advantage from long arms in the deadlift and moves the bar sic inches less or the short stocky lifter who gets an advantage from short legs? If you ignore the individual lift records this lifter gain no advantage because their body shape made them unable to squat or deadlift well and they actually finished last in their weight class

If you ignore the individual lift records this lifter gain no advantage because their body shape made them unable to squat or deadlift well and they actually finished last in their weight class Much of this lifters rom is attributable to the width of her grip, not just her short arms. Then same advantage does not occur in the deadlift as the rom will be minimised at the point where the arms hang directly down from the shoulders. Maybe a 12in rom is too much but there must be a happy medium whereby a lodger still gains an advantage due to their body shape but not at the expense of respectability? I can appreciate that within the realms of a full comp this lifter might not have had an advantage but in the age of YouTube/social media etc. this lift does nothing other than make a mockery of powerlifting.

No one believed him anyway. Member 958, 11411 posts SQ 410, BP 215, DL 4251050.0 kgs @ 100kgs UnEq | Sometimes, some people are built differently than others. Sometimes this gives them an advantage when it comes to certain physical tasks. If these people pick a sport that allows them to use their physical traits to their advantage, sometimes they do very well in this sport. I mean, I certainly agree with everyone in this thread that all people competing in sport should be of vitruvian proportion. We should also all train exactly the same way, follow the same diet and have the same hormonal profile. It would definitely be much better to watch if everyone lifted the same amount of weight in the same manner and everybody got a participation trophy, but unfortunately, sometimes people are better than others at performing a task within the specified rules of the sport and end up winning.
