We all need to stop the dominance of the Eastern block and America and get a WSM from the UK again. Truth be told, if they are Scottish, Welsh or Irish they'll be classed as British and if they lose they'll be classed as Scottish, Irish or Welsh ![]() We have so many good athletes at the minute, a truly awesome time to be British and strong, that this will eventually happen. So what if some of the nations are behind others in terms of strength, they have a smaller field to pick from and we should all be pushing each other to our limits and exceeding our expectations regardless of which part of the UK you are from. Pool our resources our knowledge and push even further forward. Through unity in the UK we will do this, not bickering about a few metres on a f**king yoke and starting to slag each other off. We go to war with the iron every day not each other, save that for the international circuit where we need to take the rest of the World to school. http://web.li.gatech.edu/~rdrury/500/writing/sp2_08/historical... This is Wales where there have only been 10 competitors competing at the last three years national comp and that 10 consists of competitors at different levels in terms of abilities. All I mean by TV purposes is that seeing less fails and more finishes makes for better viewing in my opinion.

I'll be back soon to take over again ![]() ![]() I agree with you Rich as the weights are similar to the standard of comp that it's a qualifier for and if not everyone can do it then the best will go through regardless. Although I do completely agree that the best two at the Welsh totally deserved their places. Si was ahead of us all pretty much all the way. Kelvin beat me in the deadlift, tied with me on the Axle, beat me by 10cm on the yoke which is nothing more than chance as neither of us finished the distance. The frame in all fairness was only lifted by the top two, the truck pull was just pure luck if you beat someone by a few inches as it kept rolling back into a dip and I beat him on the stones. He was the better man on the day no question at all but with the exception of the frame there wasn't a lot between us so I consider that I gave him some competition on the day. In all fairness, going into the 4th event, he was only 2 points ahead of me. He won the frame so was then 12 points ahead so the margin was suddenly too big to come back from with only two events to go.

It was going to be off the floor as there is currently an 18" deadlift in the Welsh Open. Proper steel plates will need to come from somewhere from this event.
