Nope the split jerk for log press is very effective from what i have seen form other people in comps that i have competed in a guy called tom walker is very good at the split jerk using the log and axile press, would also use jerks too

JC said: Very naive question, but what SM event will split jerks translate too? For instance, would push press not be better for log improvements? many reasons to train it. One is that it does train the leg drive better at least that is how i experience it, so it will help push press and push jerk as well. On log i wouldnt split jerk, too weird. Just stick to push jerks where you do the double kneebend and maybe split to the side a bit but not one forwards one back. Tom Walker was awesome with his split jerk log press! But not many people can do it, so easy to lose the balance. I wonder if they would have allowed split jerks at the SSM qualifiers with the 120kg clean & press? ![]()

![]() Trump will get another four years Member 126, 16708 posts SQ 160, BP 110, DL 225495.0 kgs @ 75kgs UnEq | Id have to agree with joni about not split jerking the log. Mainly because former oly lifters like murumets and koklaev dont use that technique so that would suggest its not so effective. Ive definately seen murumets use a split jerk on the axle though and I think koklaev uses a side split.

tender forearms Member 193, 337 posts | Great workout Joni. You have the strength for the 120KG BTH Split Jerk no problem, having seen your 115KG clean and press. You have just got to keep practising that technique, I think at least 140KG+ is going to fall for you this year, just keep practising, as I have said before you are in the Best Gym Probably in the country right now, for awsome Overhead pressers, and coaches ![]() I would give my right nut, to train with the guys you train with ![]()

Someone who has to wear size 38 trousers to accomodate his thighs (and they're still tight) should be squatting more than 185 IMO
