I'm like Joni, I watch precious little on tele normally apart from sport. We have a server connected up to a 42inch plasma and its set up like a tivo box, automatically downloading what we set it to. Things I watch a lot of:

- west wing
- 24
- prison break
- lost (by the way Joni, this weeks is the last until February)
- entourage
- arrested development (underated comedy imo)
- nip/tuck
- weeds
- spooks
- Studio 60 - although this is likely to be scrapped, its a little too clever for the American audienceWink

My favourite ones at the moment, from stuff shown in UK are:

- 24 - f**king quality reactionary bulls**t of highest order. gripping s**t.
- prison break. The second season kicks some major squatters arse.
- lost. good stuff, though the script writers admission that they just make it up as they go along killed the process of trying to get involved and think about how different things connect to eachother (when in the end they just dont...)
- wire in blood. good UK TV series, currently watching season 3.
- my name is earl. you have to have some comedy in the list.

I wouldnt be so sure about that Joni, ive read numerous interviews with Lindelof, Abrams and Carlton Cuse where they state that they have a clear and distinct idea of where they want to go and how they want to do it, but that theyve had to change numerous things to fit in with circumstances (like the two ladies that were shot, the actresses were fired after they were both arrested for drink driving). You also shouldnt believe much of what you read about lost online, the recording company leek 'theories' etc to get people interested. You have to remember that its one of the most expensive shows ever recorded and without the intrigue, they have no viewing figures, which equals no show.

Things I watch:

News.

Basketball, US football, baseball (not now the season is over), rugby, cricket.

Torchwood.

QI, HIGNFY.

Great sitcoms on DVD: Black Books, Spaced, Green Wing.

Best TV ever (imo) on DVD: Firefly.

Other than sport I watch very little; I certainly spend less time watching non-news-or-sport TV than I spend at the cinema in a typical week.

Boar, you know you can download the next series of both lost and prison break if you want? I like the new series of both of them, well worth the watch.

regarding lost, proof will be in the pudding, but it seems like they just use the american approach of spectacle episodes with high note endings, and dont really get too bothered if the whole thing hangs together - its a typical postmodern "end of big stories" type of tv show. If I keep that in mind i am not too bothered. I enjoy it episode at the time, but i think that is a shame, because i would have liked to be guessing and speculating the connections of seemingly separate incidents and phenomenons.

One more TV show i liked was Invasion - too bad they axed it after the first season.

resurrecting this thread.

Due to being sick few too many times lately, two of my currently favourite TV shows are:

House MD

Grays Anatomy

nothing beats a good hospital drama.

But f**k "good" and "entertaining" and all that bubble gum s**t. Enter the real deal, the dogs bo***cks, the revelation:

The Wire

Anyone into that? Just watched the first season from my death bed and I am hooked. Never seen anything like that. So detailed and realistic that its frustrating. Whole season was about one case - difficult to relate after getting used to shows like law & order, CSI etc which go from action to result in one episode. This bad boy just ploughs things through in a painful detail and realism. The acting, scripts etc all top notch.

Havent seen the wire. But I like House. Only problem is that they get a little stale. I suppose there are only so many weird and strange diseases that will entertain you.

24 IS BACK!!!! Doesnt air on Fox until Sunday but somehow the episodes have been leaked to the net. You can download 1-4 of Season 6 already.

check out this clip from The Wire, probably one of the only humorous scenes, worth the 3.5 minutes Wink

House is brilliant, though without Hugh Laurie it would be nothing.
