And given how massive he looked id definitely back him as being closer to 200 than 175. Even thor looked small in comparison, despite the fact he has clearly added some beef himself.

Isn't he normally 175-180? I'd actually be surprised if wasn't more than 'a little' over 190

Member 2407, 219 posts | Incredible from Edd. I just hope he has the financial backing to stay healthy or achieves his goals soon and can take a break. Can't help thinking he's pushing it hard. Stay healthy big man.

Ham but hey Member 4787, 205 posts | I agree that there isn't a magic programme but there are smarter ways of doing things. There has been a meteoric rise in strength across the board in strongman of late...either they are training differently or new chemicals are on scene, either way, it's still intriguing! Eddi made that 463 look so smooth and Thors improvment since Arnolds is tremendous especially considering that he must have spent a considerable amount of time away from home and on set for GOT over the past year or so. I am a curious creature.

I am a curious creature. I think the combination of more chemicals, more participants and the fact that when one person achieves something extraordinary it pushes others to do the same. Andy Bolton pulled 1000lbs. Twenty years ago that would have sounded absurd. Now three men have done it and thor has done 990lbs, shaw not far off either. We're even talking about when Eddie will do 1100!

Doesn't like tall people very much. Member 5708, 391 posts SQ 260, BP 195, DL 275730.0 kgs @ 137.5kgs UnEq | I think we're seeing the results of strongman becoming a sport in its own right, as apposed to one taken up by retired throwers/power lifters/body builders. I think these huge numbers are coming through now as the generation who were late teens to early twenties ten years ago decided to take up strong man there and then as their main sport and trained specifically for it. I think if it were chemically based we'd see powerlifting totals go through the roof as well, when I'm sure I saw on here (list of power lifters to go over 1000kg) that 3 of the top 5 were from the 70s.

Powerlifting totals have gone through the roof, I remember a couple of years ago in the 83kg class world championships 10 totalled over 800kg, 30 years ago only Ron collins and micheal bridges could do that much. At last years world champs there were 3 lifters in the 93kg class who were doing around 1000kg.
