I believe Shaun Clegg is competing in the 77 B category, well done that man!

Starts tomorrow.

Some big names down, couple of interesting ones for me:

Marcin Dolega down to lift in the supers (probably just didn't want to make weight rather than having become a 130kg monster or something). He did a 190 / 225 in training a few days ago, it is on Ilya Ilyin's channel.

Zielisnki brothers in the 94 A class, so the Olympic champion has indeed moved up.

No Russians in the 94 category, which is just odd, not as if they are short of talent even if their top two guys take the day off.

Aukhadov, Albegov, Ivanov are taking most of this year off from what I have read as they had a very full season last one and need the rest, plus Aukhadov had some sort of operation in Germany this last week.

Andrei Aramnau down to lift - will we finally see him? I'd love to. What a "wasted" talent, he was head and shoulders above everyone in 2007 and 2008, who knows what couple have gone down? By all stories he doesn't get along with the powers that be and he had his 2 legal problems (smoking marijuana and drunk driving on separate occasions) over the last few years. Was in great nick before worlds last year, 201/230 or so I believe but had some sort of injury.

Tigran Martirosyan, world champ in 2010, runner up in 2009 and 2011 behind Lu Xiaojun but absent in 2013 season and 2012 Olympics, is back lifting in the 77s.

Tom Goegebuer, aged 39, still going and with one of the highest entry totals, lets hope he bags another medal. Another favourite of mine Arturs Plesnieks in the 105s too, young Latvian dude with a tremendous jerk.

Oleg Chen in the 69s, Razmik Unanyan who has an odd little style of lifting but is incredibly good in the 77s. Demanov has gone up to 105s also. Ivan Markov and Benjamin Hannequin inthe 85s too, with some high totals. Would love for Markov to win the golds, go Bulgaria!

Milka Maneva, Oxana Karpunenko and Zoe Smith in the 69, 75 and 53 categories will be worth a watch too, I don't know much about women's lifting but they are certainly frontrunners and great lifters.

Just briefing through the start list myself and I'm only ever interested in Western European teams to compare our team to ..

Question I would have is - what on earth are Spain, Germany but mainly France doing that we just cannot ??

France without Dabaya - David Matam or any of the other Cameroonian imports and they still look very strong !

62kg - Kevin CAESEMAEKER - 275kg
69kg - Yann AUCOUTURIER - 305kg
77kg - None
85kg - Giovanni BARDIS - 355kg
85kg - Benjamin HENNEQUIN - 370kg
94kg - Kevi BOULY - 357kg
94kg - Redon MANUSHI - 365kg

Very good question Mark, also wonder if it would have been better to send our lifters to one of the countries you mention for a training camp rather than to the US?

I've not mentioned this on here before but it was a f**king joke trying to penetrate through the bureaucracy to coach my lifter at the English championships this year ..

Unreal !!

In the end to get me and Kev into that warmup room it cost over £200 !

Join BWLA = fine

Join the club to BWLA = fine

Are you a licenced club - ? Dunno

Are you a licences coach - ? Err not sure - Your GB coaches trust me to coach him for the Europeans and other internationals ? So I think so ??

No your NOT - have you passed your coaching badge ? Yes in 1997 under Jim Canniffe !

Where's your certificate - f**k knows ? It was nearly 20 years ago ?

You'll have to pay for a new one and so will Kev !!

£70 for you both for the certificates and licences ! Plus BWLA fees for you both and the club !!

Are you CRB checked currently ? No BUT it's a f**king adults comp isn't it ?

I'm afraid you'll need to apply for one to access the warmup room !!

They then sent me a certificate the week after saying

BWLA CLUB - OLYMPIC DRAGONS W.L.C

And in smacking great huge letters below that ?????

UNLICENSED

....................................

I just went away thinking - "I don't need this f**king crap" !!!

If you don't have a certificate and your lifters the best then their certificate is just expensive toilet paper

Anyway on with the lifting !!

So without getting overexcited Zoe Smith is ranked number 2 in the 58kg only 1kg behind rank 1 ..

1st time I've ever seen that myself in 20 years . So historic for team GB !

I know things don't pan out like this on the dance floor but "Good Luck" Pablo !

She is a wonderful young lady x We love her in our house ..

Surely BWL should be making it easier for guys to lift and coach not harder, I bet the Russians don't bother with all that s**t.
