Still looking at why equipped lifting totals are so much higher there must be some big variables which would be interesting to find out.

high squats and sumo deadlifts Grin

Anyone tried using knee wraps on sumo deads? Get much extra? It's on my "to try" list. I'll definitely be calling it "equipped", because in my mind it is.

my guess being I have zero experience using equipment from what Ive read and been told one of the ways suited type lifting allows bigger totals is you can achieve a greater volume specifically over the 70% of 1rm without breaking apart as much potentially allowing for faster recovery from each session so you can train it more frequently or just be fully recovered when the next session rolls around

Probably not much, you would run the risk of the legs straightening out too quickly and also the bar dragging into the wraps.

In my experience it will depend on your strengths. Take the Bench and two very different guys for example:

First guy: Performs a very wide grip, is lightning fast off the chest and struggles at lockout.

Second guy: Is generally stronger with a close grip and can struggle off the chest when benching wide.

They may bench exactly the same weight raw but first guy will inevitably get less from a bench shirt than second guy. First guys strengths aren't conducive to benching in a shirt whereas second guy's are.

squat suit + wraps i'd say gave me 75-80kg on a "good day"
bench shirt - 30-35kg
deadlift suit - 20kg

results varied a lot due to having to wear looser stuff to be safe in comps.

It's all a load of s**t and still makes no sense to me why it even exists...

Based on actual numbers I've done in comps over the last 4 years:

Squat: 40kg
Bench: 20kg
Deadlift: 30kg

The bench shirt should give me more, but I've only competed in it once and it was thrown on for a few weeks prior to the comp so I can't say I know what I'm doing with a shirt.

The relatively big deadlift surplus is due to the fact that I lift sumo.

previously I've got

between 80kg-100kg out of a squat suit and knee wraps
45kg out of a bench shirt
30kg out of a deadlift suit

DL suit - minus 40kg so far! Cant get close enough to the bar to pull conventional, so this may actually have been a default pb with a sumo stance.
