Why not just not get fat in the first place? Member 132, 1406 posts SQ 331, BP 200, DL 320851.0 kgs @ 98kgs UnEq | Steve said: There are many equipped lifters claiming that because they lift the most they must be the strongest (the same also applies to untested). By claiming to be the strongest they are if effect putting down the efforts of the unequipped lifter. This seems to be the 'superior attitude' that RAW lifters have been accused of having (that's not aimed at yourself). Is it that difficult to understand that the very strong equipped lifters are also very likely to be very strong without equipment. I know numbers get thrown about alot but I really don't think equipment adds what people like to think. Yes it adds alot, alot more when you train specifically to lift that way with those strength curves. But it's still strength that needs developing. Train these same people for a raw lift and they're going to be pretty dam good at it. There are many strong euipped lifters who would put up great totals raw. Same for single vs multiply - it doesn't make that much of a difference - certainly not the difference that people reassure themselves with.

nothing to hide, please follow my life on webcam Member 255, 3732 posts | Fazc said: Yeah, putting other people down like that is not cool. By taking part in that all you're doing is encouraging that cycle. In this thread in particular it came from the raw lifters. So was there really a need to start with that s**t here, I'd say probably not. Recognise them for what they are, different things. Like I said at the beginning, just do your thang and be happy with it. It's great if everyone can get along, but it's also nice to speculate who would be the best if lifters were competing on a level playing field. After all powerlifting is supposed to be a competitive sport, not just a politically correct get together where nobody wins or looses. The fact that somebody believes that lifter x is better than lifter y doesn't mean they are in any way putting down the efforts of either lifter.

Member 1723, 821 posts SQ 280, BP 200, DL 330810.0 kgs @ 110kgs UnEq | Personally I prefer unequipped, but thats probably down to the fact I'm s**t at equipped lol. To be fair I did find the equipped gave me a different challenge and obviously it was fun handling the heavier numbers. On the downside I did/do have depth problems with the squat so that was always a constant worry leading up to comp, plus I found it very hard to train for it on my own. I know some guys can do it, but I always found it better training with other equipped lifters which for me isn't always possible. I found I lost a lot of the enthusiasm for it when it came to training on my own. As to the carryover of kit, too many variables to say. As an example, both me and John lifted at the Seniors a few months ago and our unequipped squat PBs are both around 250, give or take a few kg. Yet John squatted 337.5kg (correct me if I'm wrong!)and I only squatted 280kg. Obviously these are extremes, as John is a great equipped lifter and as I said I'm s**t

Sports an extremely muscular arse. Member 38, 6253 posts | Thanks Iain, I did some raw Floor Presses today although I did follow them up with slingshot work Steve said:It's great if everyone can get along, but it's also nice to speculate who would be the best if lifters were competing on a level playing field. It's the all too casual devaluation of an entire branch of lifting that I take issue with. One which a lot of lifters myself included devote a lot of time to and love. That's all.

Thanks for the mention lol. As others have mentioned the strength curve is different for equipped lifting and I agree with what has been said on the whole the best equipped are generally the best unequipped. To be good in equipment you have to take the time to learn it and change your style of lifting. I enjoy both displinaces.
