As a spectator today was really good and Spartan gym was a very impressive set up.

Really happy for Shane and Ryan who did really well.

Awesome that pagan will be in the final but devastated for Kev who was doing so well. Hope you have a speedy recovery mate.
Congrats to Macca for making it again and smalls was ace of course.

It was a great day, I surprised myself. Very strong competitors. It was nice to meet Sugden members again. Many thanks to Bob,Spartan Performance and Genetic Supplements for organising this event. Thanks for those who helped me (Tony with a gold tooth) when I got cramps. Sorry about Kevin's biceps. It was nice to shake Mark Clegg's hand, his videos on UTube inspire me in my training. Very happy years of training have finally paid off. Full write-up tomorrow, too tired now. I will upload some videos in a minute.

Thanks for all the well wishes boys, it really means alot.

I'm fine I'm smacked out of my tree on codeine and I'm about to give the liver a good kicking in the hotel bar.

Got an appointment tomorrow at durham hospital with a specialist so I'll know more about wot I've done then.

Really pleased for the guys that qualified, the final is gonna be awesome. I thought pagen was immense today and thouroughly deserves his place. f**king top man!!

Again thanks for the txts, fb messages and comments on here. U make a short Ginger man feel loved.

And almost forgot, I really hope riains injury isn't as bad as it looks, he was having a fantastic day up until then.

Well f**k me what a day!!!Grin

91.8k this morning so had a hot bath then put on my shiny ( and I do mean shiny) new sauna suit under a couple of layers of clothes. Was sweating like a bas***d all the way to Tonys so popped into his to see if I'd made 90k but I was only 91k.We jumped back in the car and Tony whacked up the heater then opened a ice cold can of Strongbow ...4 cans of Strongbow later and after stopping for directions a couple of times we found Spartan performance.

I weighed in at 89.8k iirc and I quickly got in some diarolyte and fluid.I didn't feel too drained by the weighloss but I really do need to stop putting myself through this s**t when I could easily make 90k by laying off the cans and parmo's for a week pre comp.

PENDULUM PRESS
I reckon this weighed about 85k but it was the swing that f**ked a lot of lads up . Lads with much better overhead numbers than me( lets be right who has worse ones?) were struggling to keep it steady at the top despite pressing it with ease.I really didn't know what to expect numbers wise and I was pleasantly suprised when I knocked out 9reps. I think this got me somewhere around 6-8th place.

DEADLIFT- 200k no straps

Felt pretty confident about this as I have reasonably big hands for a u90k competitor and I hoped grip wouldn't be a big issue.I managed 10 and failed an 11th at the top when my grip went. I think this got me 3-5th place.

MEDLEY

Well this turned into a horror show with Kev tearing his bicep and a good few lads really struggling with the tyre.I flipped the OSG tyre a couple of times about 4-6 weeks ago and I really wished I'd made the effort to find one to train on because while I did fairly well on this event I really think I could have been better with a bit of practice.I flipped the tyre without any drops but I was far from fluid with it. I set of quickly on the drag but really ran out of steam and ended up doing single pulls to get it over the line.I think I came about 5th on this event.

LOADING

After watching a few lads go before me it became apparent that this was really all about speed. I thought I was pretty quick but a bit of a fumble on the sandbag lost me time and I managed about 5th I think. Really could have done with a 4th implement to sort the men from the boys on this one but it was the same for everyone so no complaints.

TRUCK PULL

I dont think anyone had done this before and none of us had a clue what to expect. I watched the 4 lads before me go and there was no obvious formula for success. Seeing them all in pretty bad states of distress after it wasn't rocking my world either as I felt pretty f**ked from the days effort already. Anyway I went up got the harness on and ...I pulled a truck and I liked it! ....sorryGrin
Tony walked the full length of the course hurling abuse/support at me like only he can and I managed to get a decent speed up and finished in about 52 seconds which was good enough to win the event by over 10 seconds I think.
I had to be helped up afterwards and had more difficulty walking than I do after 12 cans of Stella.

As I was apparently 5th going into the truck pull I knew I'd qualified but assumed I'd just consolidated my 5th place so I was massively supprised when Shane and then Macca were called out before me in the top 5 run down. I was over the moon to come 3rd and get a trophy and tub of protein for my efforts.

Well done to Pavel and Liam. Pavel was technically spot on in every event and a big unit for U90k.Liam backed up his pre comp hype and looks set to become a real contender at U90k in the future.I'm sure both Shane and Macca will kick my arse at the Englands in revenge for this Grin

All the lads gave it everything and I'm gutted about Kev and Rians injuries.Loads of excellent performances. Ryan really impressed me and should be proud of his performance. Smallsy showed some real class when after being given 5 reps on the deadlift reviewed his vid and informed Bob he only got 4!!!!!

As ever it was great to catch up with all the lads that I know there both competing and spectating. I should apologise to Kenny for saying he looked like my Grandad just before he died. He might be skinny but I bet he woudl have kicked my arse had he entered at the last minute!

I would like to congratulate Bob and all his team on putting on a cracking compHappy

enjoyed the comp, bulls**t bicep injuries. great facility, great athletes, few surprises.
Definitely from the axle deadlift on the underhand hand, huge pressure on that tendon due to the grip issues, even I had a twinge from that, no injuries though.
Vids and writeup soon, just got in after a 6:30 start so a bit dead Grin
I did a bit s**t really, but good effort.
