Decided to bin the old journal off and start a new 1 to cover me rehabing my glass back which seems to be permanently f**ked at the moment. However after consultation with my osteopath I have a plan .

The plan is to f**k off heavy squats and deadlifts completely for now and all overhead pressing. bench press in all its various forms will be the only strength training i'll be doing and all back and leg movements will be high rep and with light weight and I will slowly add weight as I build my "back of iron".I doubt I'll do any competitions this year but I'll hopefully get myself in good enough shape to start competing again next year.

Tonights training :

close grip floor press barx20 40kx10 60kx5 80kx5 90kx5 100kx3/3/3 60kx20

put my strength shop elbow sleeves on for the 100k sets , they're great, for anyone who doesn't have a set dont be believing all that "they're just for support" bulls**t, they give you loads. New goal for the end of the year 140k bench (in my strength shop turbo boost elbow sleeves)

Goals for 2013 :


deadlift 260k
overhead barbell 120k
log 105k
load a 150k stone
benchpress 140k
front squat 150k

Best of luck Mr Ed! On the plus side lots of interesting experimentation can be done to get those race horse legs back without loading the spine. What's that American bloke called that trains the hockey players n stuff... Oh yeah, Mike Boyle I think. Anyway, he had a lot of success with training athletes without squats or deads. Loads of unilateral movements n ting, you get me blood? Anyway, I'd imagine there'll be lots of things you can do without f**king up your precious spine. You should ask some clever people who know about this s**t.
Nice floor presses by the way! I find them much more difficult than bench for some reason.
Is unilateral the right word? I seem to be doubting my vocabulary a lot today, much as Ethel Skinner should have and yet never did.

yes please Boar , that sounds interesting, I shall be getting fit and dropping some weight(sounds familiar) .

Mckinon: my plan is to hammer goodmornings and stiff leg deadlifts starting with just the bar and doing very high rep sets maybe as many as 40 or 50 reps and then very slowly add weight ,probably as little as 2.5k a week . i will also be doing a stretching and mobility excercises much more frequently , probably every day.

Fanny thanks mate I shall check out Mike boyle, unfortunately I have no idea if unilateral is the right word or who Ethel Skinner is.

By unilateral I mean single leg, so I still don't know if that's the right word either. It's not Mike Boyle specific, I'm just aware that he didn't feel squats and deads were required to train a lot of his athletes as the risks outweighed the benefits.
Ethel Skinner was a character in Eastenders who would comically use the wrong words. "I speak proper I do. I even had those electrocution lessons".

PS. Why is Mr S so obsessed with bras?
