The above actually lead to Thor and Shaw (well, minus the viking press for Shaw) threatening to pull out mid competition. But all of that is commonplace in strongman, especially Giants Live/WSM events - It's just part of the game and they all know about it (how many associations got thrown at Terry Todd over the years for tailoring the events to suit Big Z?) Thor acted like a little girl about WSM 2017, no two ways about it. Whatever happened with event selection/changes, Ed still had to turn up and do the business and he did just that! The current media onslaught by Giants live is to make Ed look like less of a sore loser about the 501kg deadlift - Now that Thor looks like he's done with strongman (and clearly doesn't like Bryce), they have no reason not to go after him as they are Team Eddie all the way. Strongman is moving more away from being a sport than it ever was with all this bulls**t. It was bad enough when it was being treated as just a TV show, but it's now turning into reality TV No doubt it's all true as the exact same happened with Martin's last year and can't think of any other final with basically 5 heavy static events and then the only 'moving' event being a heavy truck pull. It was extremely obvious it was designed for ed to win. Just taking the drag out with Thor being amazing at it cost Thor the title by a good few points as no doubt others would have beat ed too. Thor was the better strongman, he proved that at Europe's but again it's a TV show, they don't care about the sport or who's better. | ||

Be interesting to see him and Jones Jr. JJ is 51 has very fast hands but doesn’t move his feet. He’s always been big enough to hide punches that hurt. He’s a lot fitter, I think he only retired in 2018. Tyson 54, his last fight was 2004 exhibition. The Promoter postponed from Sept to promote the show more, but one assumes Tyson’s fitness was the real reason. I enjoyed it and was much, much lighter than I am now. So aged 17-18, 6ft 7" and 77kg (less, I was that skinny), I was able to beat just about everyone, regardless of belt (I got to green belt) because I was very fast and had an extraordinarily long reach. I'm now much older, much fatter and much more broken and would struggle to beat an egg. My point is that reach and speed is what'll win this match, not power. If Thor comes into the ring at a very lean 140kg, Eddy won't stand a chance. Thor's an inch taller than me and my wingspan is 7 foot. | ||
