Hi,

I know best advice is to see a GP but it's nothing severe that rest won't sort but I want to see if anyone has anything similar.

I've damaged my ear scuba diving, a change of pressure caused a bit of inflammation and pain and it's now blocked with water or wax as well.

I tried squatting yesterday and had to back off early as the increased pressure caused further. I want to lift again tomorrow. Any ideas what I can do to reduce that pressure short of staying light or resting?

I'm trying to clear the crap with something called 'Swim Ear' and taking ibuprofen at the moment. Anything else I can do?

Any advice from any ear injury would be appreciated as it may still bw relevant.

Thanks

ear candle should help if anything is causing it by clogging up the ear works, you can get them off internet or most healthfood stores

Ear candles are quackery, get to the docs. Alternatively I have some magic beans for sale.

I'm 2 hours away in a tent and won't be back to see a GP until Monday. According to the very experienced instructors it should be ok to dive tomorrow so it isn't really a serious problem or else I would risk causing real damage. I just want to look at a way of managing the soreness of an extra day diving so I can still squat after. The instructors have given me some advice now but I didn't know if anyone had had anything similar with their ears and squatting and if anything helped. Or if they had ear problems and lifting had worsened things - in which case I would consider not lifting.

I can find some info online about weight lifting causing ear pressure but little advice about weight lifting and (minor!) ear injuries.

Obviously if it worsens or continues past a few days I will see a GP. Plus if it gets worse I won't lift and risk damage that way either.

I just want to go the gym Happy If I can't the I won't but if there's anything I can do to improve my chances then I'll give a go so I'll be sat with a candle in my ear tomorrow Happy

I felt something pop whilst walking out about 240-250kg a while back. I felt a little deaf in one ear, and kept on poking it. Within a few hours I could feel something inside, got my mum to have a look (i was young, living with parents) and she got some tweezers out and pulled out something about 2-3cm (from my ear, no cock jokes please). Was a dark red like dried blood. Get someone to shine a torch down there or something, could be a blockage.

My ears are a nightmare. I've had more ear infections than hot dinners. I get imbalances and blockages. I've got constant hissing (tinnitus) and sometimes suddenly get a high-pitched sound. Heavy bench pressing has brought on temporary partial deafness more than once Unhappy

Go find a drop in centre or something, you don't need to see your own GP. Probably just needs a flush out.
