I think i may do but i have only ever squatted in a pair of Adidas Power Perfects.

I did a quick set with low weight today in my Vans and it felt like i didn't lose tightness as much at the bottom and could power up easier.

EDIT: And i squat fairly narrow which is making think it's a bit unusual, i could be totally wrong of course.

All oly shoes do is allow you to get around bad ankle mobility and provide a solid base. Really

Barefoot or flat soles for me. Slightly wider than shoulder width and bar on lower traps.

Bar on lower traps?

I've heard of low bar squatting but that's ridiculous Grin

I prefer squatting in my socks as for some reason it's much kinder on my knees.

Mobility aside, if you have a strong posterior chain and weaker quads then flat shoes might be better suited. A heeled shoe pushes the knee further forwards to place more stress on the quads (and knee) but will allow a more upright spine.

Usually a narrow stance squatter is quad dominant so they will further bias it in their favour with oly shoes. Not always the case though... Dan Greens squats have a full on power low bar stance and he wears a heel.

Preference, I wouldn't worry about what others do too much if you are lifting safe and gaining...

I keep getting recommended that they are great but I'm ass to grass with decent posture in socks. I'm not super strong but small increases and very safe. No knee issues or back issues from squatting.
I like the idea but think I'd waste money buying any. Can you squat bare foot in pl comps?

I have just gone back to flats and wider as as going more mid bar as opposed to low bar.

Feels good to me. Plenty of people squat in oly shoes and plenty of people in flats
