Been lifting with straps for a while and always seem to stiff leg them a lot more than when i use a mixed grip.

Does anyone else find that they can get into a better position with a mixed grip or is it just me?

Feel like i can force my hips down more with a mixed grip Confused

I find it much easier to lift with straps, and get in a nice comfy position

I also reckon you pull more with straps (not due to grip, just the setup)

Don't notice any difference tbh, I only use straps when I need them tho or going for a 1rm attempt incase I fail it on grip.

I get the very same, it seems to alter my set up position, even though I try not to let it.

For me I think it is to do with the time involved with strapping up, and not just dropping down and lifting

At the minute i can lift more with straps but feel i cant get into the correct position that feels most beneficial. Cant seem to force my hips down.

Spent so long lifting with straps now but kind of feel i could more more without with a bit of practice

Yeah i think you have a point there. Strapping in always seems to leave me with a different set up before i pull

I used straps for the first time on Saturday and have been thinking that it felt much harder than it would of done without them. I only used them as they are allowed in the comp I'm doing. My hands tear quite badly and quite often so they would be a good idea for me in that way. I even wondered about doing mixed grip with the straps for the comp so they would be more of a protection for my hands and I'd feel more comfortable with it been in a mixed grip.

Robbo, I find the set up much better with mixed grip, however my grip isnt that good so straps do help , but i rarely put them on properly despite being helped lots of times with them Roll-Eyes

With straps, Captain Stiff Leg and hips shooting up

I've just spent the last 2 months learning to lift with straps!!! I actually prefer mixed grip though as I find I lose that inital drive and anger (can't think of a better word for it) by the time i've done my straps up!

I can hook grip my PB deadlift so needing straps isn't an issue but I always feel like I'm slightly twisted when I lift with a mixed grip.

My upper body twists when I use mix-grip; always felt strong but uncomfortable...

Got used to hook gripping now so if I ever use straps (which is rare as I'm not keen on them) I just use an overhand grip; lower pull for me as well with having long'ish arms... Feel that I can lock out better also!
