Steve - I don't think it's as hard to win because in terms of weightlifting for example you have to be at the top of human performance for a given weight class to win ... Evident by how close the totals always are !
Where as crossfit you just have to be "good" at everything ... Untill the sport gets on a few years you maybe might see marathon runners at 84kf clean and jerking 230 but for now there good at everything not great !

Aren't people who are great at one thing generally pretty terrible at almost everything else?

I'd say being "good" at everything is what they are great at

Well that's because they don't train everything else !?

I meant for example, me I'm good at squat bench dead overhead by no means great, I'm getting better at the cardio as I've started training that and a few months maybe I'll be good at both ....

IMO if I decided to do anything I'd get good at it but not much I can see me being great at ... To many freaky foreigners

Do it!!! Shane, do it!

I f**kin hate/ love/ hate/ love/ f**kin detest crossfit! Right now I don't like it all cos it broke me this morning, although I am far too fat to be doing it anyway really!
I love the idea of incorporating alsorts of strenght and fitness activities into one sport (not keen on having to gymnastic type stuff cos thta far too hard to learn when your old, fat and inflexible). I hate the way I feel when I've done a wod (and to be fair i've not done that many - bw farmers for 400m was worst by long way!) but love the feeling an hour later when i don't feel sick anymore and actually feel almost like an athlete!

I have actually forgot what my poit is now????????? errm just carry on!

Anyone curious about it all can just do the Open workouts to see how they match up or sign up next year (20$) and get ranked along with everyone else. These days, even excellent allround athletes need to dedicate themselves to CF at least 6 months to a year to even hope to break through to the Regionals (top 48 in Europe; only top 3 out of those 48 eventually go to the Games).

Just as a point of comparison (relatively strong for a CrossFitter/weak for a sugdenite, and mediocre conditioning but probably better than most on sugden), I was around 1500th in Europe and 16000th in the world this year.

I think you, like most of us on here, have forgotten what it feels like to be "in shape". I have just dropped some weight and started doing more stuff and feeling like I can actually go a bit is great.

I think this comes back to Ben's comp idea again though

I've never really understood the "hate" CF brigade TBH

Is it for me.....no!

Do I enjoy watching it....no!

Do I think its a great test of limit strength...no!

But if others enjoy it, then they should crack on!

The only thing I dont really like is it being compared to strongman...like comparing NFL and RU

Well thoughts ?

A great deal of the best ever weightlifters were smokers which in itself would make them pretty biz at CF. OL and CF are different kettles of porridge. If you wanted the dollars in your prime you should have stayed at school Mr R, otherwise be happy that you walked your walk, did it well and enjoyed it
