I cant see Eds 500 reported anywhere on the BBC website...

I have made an official complaint. I hope others follow.

Enough women's football and other crap shoved down my throat that nobody is interested in.

I honestly thought you were joking.

Was alcohol involved in this?

At the risk if a barrage of abuse, I am unsurprised at the lack of coverage. I would suggest the following reasons -

one, he not only is untested but it is an open secret that he would never pass a test

two, he used straps

The powerlifters have a lift they call the deadlift, so if that is one, then what Ed did wasn't. If a powerlifter in a tested fed did it, it would get coverage. But not this.

It is an immense weight and he is supremely strong - no question about either. But newsworthy to the masses, I would have thought not

I'm a huge fan of Mr Hall and cheered like nobody's business at my laptop screen as he lifted 500kg.

The main difference between myself and the majority of the population is that I give a s**t about a bloke picking a weight up off the floor. Not surprised at all that it didn't get reported by the BBC.

Sadly, I believe you are right.
Ultimately no one really gives a s**t about strongman or powerlifting which is a shame because a fella from our very own little island did something unthinkable and most the public wont know.

My point is that we are forced to give a crap about womens football and other such nonsense. why cant this significant event be published?

Apparently it only matters if Arnold's there!

Im still a bit high from the Euro vote tbh.

My complaint is the bias coverage or lack of.

I get what everyone is saying. However, a little compliant now and again can make a big shift in coverage. Im fairly sure that pressure groups got involved in womens football (as an example)

you arent forced to care about it at all, no one makes you read articles about womens football.

Yeah it's a sorry fact that not everyone shares our passion for lifting heavy s**t, having said that I have seen Eddie on breakfast news before so maybe it will come up somewhere else, what about that t-shirt going for 3grand then aye?

Plus it is not an Olympic Sport.

I am kind of surprised so much of our strength "talent" ends up in SM - I know that SM gets multiple more times coverage in the UK than the UK WL team but all it would take would be one guy to be sort-of-competitive on the world level at SHW and, assuming you weren't a complete c**t, you'd almost be guaranteed coverage on the BBC and thus the biggest platform afforded to anybody nationwide.

Just a Sunday morning muse.

Okay so I've just sent them a moderately worded "I was disappointed to find that there was no coverage of this even" email.

I agree. The BBC and it's leftist policy bow to sports such as one fingered, wheelchair bound ten pin bowling because people kick off.

They finally covered snippets of UFC after enough bum boys and my peers pressured for something. Plus the public showed interest.

If a video of his pull is 1m views, eventually something needs to give.

Saying that, part of me doesn't want mainstream coverage. They can barely scrapr together weight-lifting articles. They may well cock up basic journalism about this kind of event, like they (still) do on MMA.

Sports outside of the accepted circle will always be that.

Oh i agree with you, the amount of s**t the bbc give coverage and they miss out on a monumental moment in strength history.

the general population don't really know what 500kg really means ....they have no idea about proper deadlifting protocols .... 465? 500 ? whatever ..

they want 30 foot long barbells with hummer tyres or dolly birds sat on the bar !!!

If an overweight teenage girl that is basically natural save for copious amounts of oestrogen in each muffin top goes to a tested fed and deadlifts 120kg it makes the news. f**k the BBC.
