![]() they found an old knot very deep in my glute Member 1837, 475 posts SQ 220, BP 200, DL 262.5682.5 kgs @ 120kgs UnEq | As a few know i run a gym, VXG, wich is based inside Vauxhall Motors Car Plant. On the 16th September the plant is having an "open day" were the public can come in, look around an all sorts of side shows are put on. I've put forward to them the idea of putting a strongman comp on, wich they are keen on, pending on risk assesing it for health an safety?? I reckon i could put a really good comp together as we have good facilities an plenty of kit, almost everything could be done head to head an plenty of possabiltys for events, loads of room, even the option to go indoors if its wet weather. We could even get some decent prizes donated by contracters, they usually donate stuff like 40" lcd tvs for raffles! So the quetion is, is any one clued up on how i get them to buy into it on the health an safety side of it?? One other question, has anyone ever held a "merseysides strongest man"?? Do i have to ask the councils permission to use this title?? Cheers in advance........

Ours certainly have no interest in names of comps or titles or really any of the actual competition side of it. What they do make us do is apply for a public entertainmanet licence through them, for which I have needed to povide a risk assesment, layout plan, stewarding plan and copy of public liability insurance. The fact that your are running it as past of a business open day may change what you need though, as they may have their own requirements, or may be able to include things in their own insurance policies. I assume with a plant of that size you have someone in charge of health and safety, might be worth arranging an informal chat with them first?

The rest "should" be covered by the overall event organiser. The council don't have to be ivolved with regard to the name, but could be useful to make contact anyway if you want it promoted locally.
