s**t. So if I do the WDFPF Worlds I get a 12 month suspension from all BWLA events! Crazy. Big decision ahead...

Thanks for info Rick. I was looking in the wrong place. I can think of some lifters who have transgressed and got off with it (will name no names).

Yes, but only if you lifted in an international event (eg Europeans, Worlds, etc.) in another federation. Check web link from Rick's post.

you dont get many oppertunities to lift on the world stage martin, it is a descision not to be taken lightly, but i would roll the dice and lift in the worlds, surely no-one can ban a man who possibly the best compare north of the trent.

I'm gutted Jon. I can do both - IPFs in September and Drug Free in October (assuming everything goes ok and I get selected) but if I do that I won't be able to be involved in BWLA in any way until October 08. More chance of a medal drug free, and I get to represent Scotland for the first time in my life, but IPF is swimming with the big fishes and I've been with BWLA since '95. Just a shame the rules force me to make the decision. Can't see what the problem is if I'm not lifting against banned lifters tbh. Would understand it if we were professionals with contracts etc., but this is an amateur sport that costs us all money to compete in.

Martin in all honesty its a f**king disgrace. If I was you I would stick it big time to the BWLA. Are they really that far up their own arse that they would ban you?

If you compete and get banned I wiil email the BWLA and tell them exactly what I think. I would encourage every other member of this site to do the same.

Hmm. It does come across as if BWLA just spits the dummy whenever someone does something they dont like.

I had thought it was just that if you competed against a lifter who is banned from the IPF but it seems that is not the case. It does seem an odd rule to exclude you from doing ANY international. I'd stick to the IPF ones then we don't have to mute our master of the microphone!

as a t3, europeans for the bdfpa seem an almost certainty with my lifts at the moment, never mind in 6 months

the results that were posted for the europeans had (the only) t3 in the 125's liftin 15kg more in total than me i think it was, thats what im going on, not the fact i think im a superstar Grin

Cheers for the comments, lads. In fairness to BWLA, it's not a BWLA rule but an IPF one. BWLA has no choice but to apply it as a condition of its membership of the IPF. I, like most of you, obviously, thought we were only prevented from lifting against banned lifters until Rick directed me to 14.9 (earlier in the thread if you haven't seen it). So I can (theoretically) set a WDFPF record, as long as it's not done in an international event. Lunacy! Probably breaches Human Rights legislation, not that I can be arsed going down that road.

Martin, for you to get banned somebody would have to notice who cared, take it to whatever committees etc it would take, and so on. Can you see that happening? The people who've been made an example of were all big names lifting in juiced-up US clown feds (I think). Were I you, I'd go to worlds, and if they ban you f**k 'em.

I agree entirely that the rule is a disgrace, though.

I agree, Rick is on the ball.

We often forget how clever this man is - I mean, they did base Good Will Hunting on his story.

Ah... THAT'S why they shortened it to Will...
