So you start when you're 16? Surely this isn't feasible as the minimum starting age is 18.

No, 16 mate.

Plenty of positives of course. The negative is having to go to war. Which is a bloody big negative in my opinion. Happy

True, but it's down to the job. Some trades sit in a workshop in afghan all day and train and train and train. There's a subway there etc!
Don't get me wrong, some places and jobs are horrific, but the people doing them are the people that joined for that role. They won't spend years and thousands training you to be a network engineer to send you to kick doors down and wrestle the taliban!

Theres plenty of office jobs and such too, maximise the pros against the cons!

My question is, how do you know these careers/jobs are terrible when you've had little to zero job experience?

This all seems a bit childish tbh.

So all careers/jobs are terrible, I know this because I just know.
I want to do something magical and wonderful in Peter Pan land
Just because, I deserve it?

Yes that's childish. I'd expect that from an 8 year old. Finishing university I'd be expecting a young man to be making a realistic series of options based on what he's done with his life so far.

some interesting responses, thanks everyone.

fazc, I cant tell if youre angry at something or not however you seem to be getting the wrong idea. firstly, I am finishing my first year of uni not my last. secondly I do have some work experience. Not much admittedly but nothing that I did I liked at all really and certainly wouldn't want to spend the rest of my life doing it. Lastly im not saying that I think all jobs are bad, hence why I made a thread asking for the ones which aren't.

If I am misunderstanding what you have said then I apologise

a week or 2 ago someone posted a video of how food is made and stuff, I don't know if you saw it. well there was this hilarious bit where there was a tent that slowly moved over a field with people kneeling down picking cabbages or something and it looked so horrible and painful. you know like when you kneel down and your knees hurt and everything else hurts and it feels like your face is going to explode for some reason? and then like 12 hours later of picking cabbages like that and you will get too hot and pass out and then the edge of the tent will run you over

I'm in a job now where it's just about bearable. The people I work with a mostly great however the job is tedious. It's secure, has a decent pension and share scheme and although the pay is pretty low I've also thankfully got some pretty low living costs.

With that, I dream about doing something different day - working outside, using my brain, working with my hands...

I'm attempting to do something about that, however if I was to be at your age/situation again, I'd basically say just find something to fall back on - labouring on the weekend etc. Earn yourself some pocket money while picking up skills and meeting new people.

I did an awesome job on placement last year.

Doing a job with a wage of 30k, enjoyed it. It was rewarding. Shame the company shut the place down before i could get a nice cushy job there.

Had nice flexi-time policy where i could leave early when i wanted to train if i stayed late on the other days.
