Out of interest how did you injure your calf?

My experience with calves is that they can be tricky buggers to heal, so I am pleased it is feeling better than you expected.

It's been a little tender for a while and as i was walking the dogs i guess i just took a dodgy step and felt something, it felt as if the calf cramped, but then i couldn't walk on it after.

I could barely walk yesterday but today managed to walk 3 miles to work, so it's clearly alot better.

Will be playing safe and missing squats again tomorrow and seeing how i feel Friday. I was worried that it would affect my achillies tendon as i had surgery on that a few years back (old rugby injury) but it seems to be fine.

I picked up a very violent stomach virus last week so i was unable to train, or get out of bed, or eat, so i'm now a stone down, but i feel a million times better, gonna attempt to continue my prog with the weights that were scheduled anyways, starting this evening, can't wait to get going again.

This is what happens when you cut weight Tongue

In all seriousness, glad you're better and best of luck re-starting the programme.

As i thouight, the past week really drained me and i was getting fatigued quite quick, so i just kept it light to get back into it (the hangover session) if you will:

Squats: 5 x 50/70/100/120/150/170

1 x 200/220

3 x 8 x 170

10 x 150

12 x 100

20 x 70

Just left it there, was alot of volume looking back but im not sore today really, feeling alot better and almost 100%.

Confident im almost back on track.

Carrying on the recovery stage i managed:

Squats: 5 x 70/120/150/170

2 x 200/ 2 x 220 x 2

200 x 4

170 x 8

150 x 12

120 x 15

70 x 20

PUMP
Had more in me on the heavier weights as in i could've went heavier, but theres no point, i'm just wanting to break back into it and get all my muscles firing again with some good volume.

Bench:
Wasn't expecting the world, this i the lift that suffers most for me when i've been unwell so just played it by ear:

50/70/100/120/140 x 5reps

2 x 150 x 3reps

140 x 6

120 x 8

100 x 12

70 x 20

50 x 20

Chest was on fire, every rep paused comp style on the way up and then either dead stop or t&g on way down

Fly's: 3 x 12r

Pushdowns: 3 x 12r

Curls: 3 x 12r

Squats: 70/100/120/150/170 x 5r

200 x 2r

220 x 2r

230 x 2r

220 x 3r

200 x 4r

170 x 10r

120 x 20r

My legs now have perma pump.

Deadlifts (stupid decision)

70/120/170/220 x 5r (NO ISSUES)

240kg x 1r (here's a lovely lower back strain for you Mr Kelly)

Pulled or strained my lower back whatever you wanna call it on a very light weight for me, probably somthing to do with working in an office and not stretching or warming my back up properly before deads and after squats. 3 days on and still in alot of pain, oh s**t, someone really does not want me to compete at the british and at this point in time, i'm considering no more powerlifting, i'm sick of the constant injury and toll on the body for, lets face it, ZERO reward.

Went to the gym, attempted to unrack 60kg (NOPE)

Attempted to deadlift 60kg (NOPE)

so i am not contemplating becoming an upperbody body builder...... not really but i dd manage to do some training:

Bench with feet up & back flat

60/100 x 8r.

120 x 10s x 3r (3 sec pause)

100 x 12r

60 x 20r

Seated dumbell press: 20's x 20r

3 x 40's x 12r

1 x 50's x 10r

2 x 20's x 20r

Hammer strength shoulder press: 20 x 20r/ 40 x 20r/ 60 x 20r/ 80 x 15r/ 100 x 12r/ 40 x 50r

Side lat raise: 3 x 20r

Rev fly: 3 x 20r

Shrugs: 4 x 140kg x 25r (narrow grip & 3 sec squeeze at top of lift)

Bent over row: 4 x 100 x 12r

Pulldpowns: 3 x 10r

Lower back eased off while training and i managed to unrack 100kg, however there was still discomfort so i am stil leaning towards pulling out of the british and subsequently the internationals next year, which, for me is devastating.

It sure does mate, i'd like to think it'll be better soon, but i'm known for rushing back, it's whether to take a gamble and carry on training hard for the Brits or to throw in the towel now and give myself reasonable time to actually heal.

I'll probably gamble ha

Did a load of Hypers, then reverse hyper's and foam rolling for my lower back and it worked a treat! I felt fantastic, next to no pain or stiffness, however i want to give it till wednesday before i even think about squatting or pulling. So:

Bench:

70/100/120 x 5r

140 x 2r,

150 x 2r,

160 x 1r

140 x 3r

3 x 130 x 6r

120 x 8r

100 x 12r

Wide grip/flat back/ feet up bench:

70/100/110 x 6r

6 x 120 x 4r

110 x 5r

100 x 8r

70 x 20r

*(All paused to comp standard)

Incline barbell press: 3 x 110 x 8r

Incline dumbbell fly's:

1 x 20's x 10r

2 x 30's x 8r

1 x 20's x 12r

1 x 14's x 20r

Bicep curls:

2 warm up z 12r

3 work sets x 8r

1 drop set x 20reps

Was a pretty decent session volume wise, back felt amazing so i walked home (5 miles) slightly regretting it today as it's a bit stiff but still a massive improvement on yesterday and the weekend (ALL HAIL THE HYPER EXTENSION)

Squats:

5 x 70
5 x 100
3 x 120
2 x 150
2 x 170
4 x 190 x 7r

Bench:

5 x 50
5 x 70
5 x 100
5 x 120
5 x 130 x 5

Deficit deadlift:

5 x 70
5 x 120
5 x 150
5 x 170
4 x 200 x 5r

As can be seen i went very light on the deficits as to try and not aggravate my back.

I dunno if anyone has experienced it, they probs have so i'd appreciate help, the pain is lower left side of my back just to the left of my coxix basically, it gets alot better after doing hypers, but still felt pain squatting which i expected but it wasn't enough pain to make me stop.

However, today, that pain is no worse that it has been, but i feel really dizzy when i move or put the lower back under pressure, almost like motion sickness and i'm going to faint.

It doesn't hurt to touch, infact it feels a little better to touch, just wondering if there's maybe damage to my disc or if it's just a strain/pull, because i know exactly what a doc will say, "oh, try not lifting"
