I guess I do, yeah. I'd probably have drawn a line between harder stuff and weed, but given how strong that is these days I'm not sure I even believe that anymore. I do think recreational drugs are a lot easier to 'get right' if that makes sense, but we're all stupid enough to f**k ourselves up regardless, and given they almost universally involve alcohol too, the likelihood of making a mistake is elevated. Worryingly, I knew plenty who seemed to walk the line using both, without any knowledge of how to stay safe, simultaneously. You won't stop these kids doing it. So we've got to educate them how to do it safely, and stop worrying that it encourages them. They're gonna do it anyway.

As a young (15-16) gym rat I knew at lest 3 people who would sell me any gear I wanted, in any quantities. I was 15, and pretty bright, but what the f**k did I know about taking gear. I saw a lot of teenagers do a lot of stupid things. I'm in no way arguing in favour of PEDs, but I wonder if there's any greater risk involved at 15/16 years old. Suleymanoglu (the greatest weightlifter of all time?) started breaking WR at just 16 years old. I would guess, given Bulgaria's record on PEDs from the time, that few people would argue this was achieved naturally.

Suleymanoglu could be the poster boy for this effect! OK, not a life threatening issue but I'm sure a lot of youngsters (especially those not already blessed with height) wouldn't risk taking them if they knew they'd risk forever being a short arse!

Theres going to be a risk in taking them at 15-16 years old because PEDs affect the nervous system and this would still be developing at that age. As with any risk it would be dose and time dependent.

I'm not so sure they would be informed of all the negatives of taking them and possibly in some cases even know they are taking them (thinking oral peds). When you have a coach pushing you and telling you to take this "supplement" to help you win. "You do want to win don't you?" added to the fact that you respect your coach and trust that they would always do the right thing by you as a athlete.. think this was big issue through collage football in the US I'm not as sure about the attitude of coaches in weightlifting.

Captain America was injected with a super serum which turned him from a small weakling into a super hero. Roger Ram jet had his "Power Pill" seeing that our childhood heroes took things to get them strong is there any wonder that people take them. A reasonable documentary on this is "Bigger Stronger Faster" which I watched on netflix a few months back, It was in places quite funny especially the US congressman that didn't know the legal age to drink in his state or whether steroids were illegal.

not stating facts. Member 3100, 502 posts | Rugby league is full of gear. I mean look at the size n how lean the guys are. Also the impacts they take week in week out. It takes so much to recover. When I was in the academy for a team which is one league below the superleague we were told to turn up to training early and the coach told us that the testers were coming and if anyone didn't feel well they should go home. Quite a few went hone haha.

I don't really understand the point about Suley though, besides the n=1 issue, I'm not sure how he is evidence that abusing steroids as a teenager is not bad for you. I suspect, if as is likely, he was using, then he was doing so under at least some direction. What supervision does tne 15 year old gym rat who's bought a few gs of test and a few hundred dbol from Big Rory get? Most of them probably think clomid is an STD. Looking back I saw people do some ridiculous things without having any idea what they were doing. Sadly most were getting hammered regularly too. As I said, these people need educating, not chastising.

His veins are enlarged, most likely due to extremely high blood pressure, which is no doubt increased massively by (if not actually CAUSED by) PEDs. He's spent a fkload of money on said PEDs, most likely in the ballpark figure of the $100,000USD that he's after!

Lost his pen, then found his pen. #phew Member 4899, 2956 posts | I'd agree that there are arguably many more "worthy" causes to donate to but moaning about someone trying to raise money in this fashion seems most unkind. I've worked for Charities that help homeless people, many of which have experience of homelessness due to drugs, alcohol etc, so I certainly think your crack analogy does not hold water.
