just_t | Belted Deadlifts? | 01-05-2008 @ 15:09
Mr.Fit Member 164, 5028 posts SQ 170, BP 135, DL 230535.0 kgs @ 84kgs UnEq | Do you have your belt looser, the same or tighter on deadlifts than you do on squats? My belt really is pissing me off on deads at the minute and im not sure whether to loosen it or just drop it compeltely.

Do hugs, not drugs. Member 136, 712 posts SQ 380, BP 242.5, DL 330952.5 kgs @ 110kgs Eq | Train without a belt for a while - it won't hurt. Many a deadlift record has been set without one. The Olympic fellas don't use them much either. Westside theory is to have a loose belt for squatting and "breathe" into it to create stablity. This isn't as easy doing deads, hence why some have it tighter for this lift.

Member 143, 237 posts SQ 340, BP 245, DL 310895.0 kgs @ 120kgs Eq | Train without it till the weight gets heavy. Slowly build up how much you can do without it & hit the weighted abb work harder.

That is not what I do but if it works for you.... Try the "breathe it stable" method, create your own core stability with your belly fully inflated - its a stronger position.

The one in the guns and roses teeshirt. Member 171, 2462 posts SQ 272.5, BP 140, DL 245657.5 kgs @ 80.2kgs Eq | I dont have one atm but plan on getting one purely to protect my back. You can do 19 perfect deadlift reps, f**k up the 20th and nack your back, its not worth it.
