I just watched the europes strongest man 2012 program on eurosport and someone clearly belt cleaned the axle and wasn't no repped and neither was it mentioned. I'm not saying who in case I get someone making a fbstatus about me or threatening me on a public forum (lol), but if you watched it you saw it! Colin Bryce did say z was lucky to get his one motion db but said nothing about the belt clean. So if the big guys (with the big guts ) are allowed then why not the little guys with no gut? Ps-I have a gut but not everyone at my weight does. Chaos does, and it's way bigger than mine.

Member 3241, 2043 posts SQ 1, BP 192, DL 255448.0 kgs @ 136kgs UnEq | Continental cleans as they're called have been used for ages... Dont need a big gut either; just need to practice landing the bar just above the belt line, get used to the pain and then learn to flip it up to shoulder height etc... For me they allow you to handle hell of a lot more weight than you can normally clean plus I find it easier to drop lower under a continental clean than I can when doing a full clean! LPJ doing it here will 400lbs: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8v8ScjtYRZA I think it'd be better to learn to drop under the clean to shoulders rather than just lean back unless you've got stupid brute strength

You cannot intentionally clean it to your belt in WSM etc etc. if it slips onto the belt then it can be allowed

vegetarian with a big deadlift - who would have thought... Member 340, 13300 posts SQ 315, BP 190, DL 350855.0 kgs @ 110kgs UnEq | brownbear said: Impressive but not what I was getting at ..... Nevermind lol I guess we need the Euro chiefs/refs to give their opinion really - the rest of us would just be speculating. I quite like the fact that different comps have different rules. For me personally using the belt to clean is no different to using straps on a deadlift - you are eliminating a weak link with a piece of kit to move the weight from a to b... its just a case of where you draw your personal lines.
