I've decided to try and shed a few pounds of blubber and improve my cardio in the confines of my nice, damp, cold garage by introducing the old and trusty heavy bag back into my training. After a few rounds of familiarising myself with it after several years, I thought I would document the occasion by making a short movie. As you can see I peter out towards the end but this is as much to do with the fact that my arms were f**king throbbing like bas***ds as my breathing seemed ok considering I'm around 22st and not used to throwing punches for several rounds!!!

The bag is 45kg so not super heavy but it's heavy enough to test the wrists as it were. I may document my progress discretely and post the odd vid as I see the fat come off and the speed and power resurface.

Watch out Tyson Fury!!!!!!!

That was a joke by the way...

Make sure you look after your joints mate, I'd imagine rounds of heavy bag work will be pretty tough on them if you haven't done them for a while

Still plenty of snap in that jab just don't let it drop!
I wouldn't like you to punch me in the face. It wouldn't be pleasant.

The guy I train with loves doing a quick round or three with the bag after a session. I think for him its mostly for fun with the improved fitness etc. being a nice bonus. Recently he has started to get into it so much I had to stop him doing it today since he has a meet this weekend!

Thanks gents.

Joints are all good today but just a little stiff in the elbow creases. Definitely a good way to shed the upper body blubber as I worked a broad spectrum of muscle groups over a relatively short period of time and can feel the benefits already!

Most enjoyable and I'll make it a regular feature here and there around my lifting as it may just make me a lean, mean random object lifting machine!

Love the heavy bag, but stopped using it for cardio as it runied my pressing strength

I'll keep a watchful eye on that mate as I would be mortified if my pressing went backwards as it's a reasonable weapon for me in my strongman arsenal.

THIS!!

I was very pleasantly surprised at how sharp your punches were, especially during the first 1.5 minutes. If that bag had kidneys it would have shat them on the floor by the end!

Eek
