Just wondering if any you guys or girls have got asthma and how do you manage/ get on with it

I had bad asthma as a child and seemed to grow out of it when I started playing sports. But the past few years I have noticed a slow decline in my cardio fitness. Up till the point last night where even when I was laying down I couldn't catch my breath. scary

Needless to say I have been to the docs. But I am just wondering how anyone else trains/lives with it

Yep I have asthma.

I keep my inhalers around the house and in kit bags but I tend to only have problems in really cold weather if cats are about. Regular CV fitness work helps with asthma.

Also a tip: you can buy salbutamol inhalers in Spain and other European countries over the counter cheaper than on the nhs in the uk

My asthma destroyed my life.
Regular light cardio helps it a lot as does regular medicine taking.
Anaerobics are chronic!

Moderate to heavy cardio as it helps keep my lmugs clear, expecially during winter. Not missing doses of my inhaler, or I feel a bit s**t and worn down after a couple of days.

A cold still has the chance to send me to hospital though.

Asthma sucks but staying on top of medication prevents any really bad episodes.

I have asthma

I use the brown and blue inhalors every morning and every night.... Have done for two weeks now

Cardiovascular exercise can elieviate the symptoms and almost rid you of restrictions... But I have decided that as with other all medicines where the diagnosis is accurate I should take the medication... Anti histamines, anti inflams...

(Mine is symptomatic as most on here have been from the looks of it )

When you guys have it bad would you take your inhaler before (as precaution/increase your performance) training weights or cardio. Or just have it close to hand

I have it as it is prescribed

In the last two weeks or so I have decided to do this...

I am going to go ahead and say it - I had asthma as a kid which largely cleared up as an adult, but the heavier I get the worse it gets, especially as I get older, pretty obvious really.

For those saying that cardio helps, I've got a bit of a cold at the moment so my chest isn't great. I'm taking my inhalers and a tablet the Dr gave me. I've stopped doing any cardio because I didn't think my chest would be up to it, should I wait until my chest is clear to start cardio again or do it now?
