pmsl I never thought I'd ever see this.

We only call it this because we don't know what else to call it!

I'll put a video up tomorrow of it; more to justify it as it looks a bit nancy... you might wanna do it in private. However, the results in what it does neurally to acceleration on bench press is profound.

Cheers

I've noticed Bim does them in his journal.
He also films a lot of his sessions.
No AMH presses ever feature in his videos... Grin

Grin I'm going to hold off on posting a video of them, it would be far better coming from Aaron (plus other people were in the gym tonight)!

Right...

So I had to add it on to the end of some more manly lifts:

6th set of 5 @ 250 squat (excuse inconsistent tech from nursing an injury; I injured my groin doing backflips on a bouncy castle to impress the other parents at a kids birthday party....)
6th set of 5 @ 190 bench
5th single banded bench @ 200 plate + lots of tension

5th set of 5 @ bar mythical 'AMH' press

The press in the video doesn't quite exagerate the upward curve I'd like; looks too much like a normal bench but stood up.

Anyways, a very brief summary of what it does...

Off the bat, its a NEURAL adaptation movement (not a muscular one). When you are normal benching, with respect to gravity the force arm is shorter as the bar gets closer and closer to lockout (and so delts contract less the further the bar travels; especially with lighter loads and momentum).

When standing upright, instead of the force arm shortening, it lengthens (with respect to the lever arm and gravity). Basically, we are recoding the pattern to contract delts greater as the bar moves away from the body.

It looks nancy, even with gabber techno on, so you might not want to do it in public. Now, as for its weight in gold... only you can work that out, but for me and those I have coached, the difference is profound. I dare say this is the movement which will see me take an IPF world record in the near future; time will tell!

I know your famed on here for your press (rightly so), but I thoroughly enjoy watching your squats. So explosive!
