Update after morning at hospital, surgery changed to monday morning, had ultra sound, confirmed complete rupture, tendon has travelled approx 5 cm from elbow up towards shoulder. So all being well will be sorted Monday, then several months rehab :-)

Bummer about the delay, but at least it's only 2 days waiting. Hope the recovery is a short as the wait for surgery pal. Happy

Good luck wih the surgery....the anticipation is the hardest bit....when you wake up you'll be able to start the recovery. It needs to be done so just accept it now !

Not sure what relevance this has . You won't get this operation over here on NHS .

However you can't leave these things for long because they seize up to f**k and cause no end of problems . What you need to do is get the op - get the first cast and refuse the second cast . This is what most people who have had this surgery will recommend. Everyone who taken the second cast struggle like f**k for ages to get back to full ROM . I cut my second cast off after a few days because luckily I had great advise of a good strongman . and with-in only weeks I has full ROM . You have to be careful of course but you also can't baby the thing . When your ready - House work are great tasks for getting movement and strength back . Washing up - hoovering up ect even before full ROM will help with minimal risk .

Hope surgery goes well and recovery is good mate.

on a side note, i dont know where he got it done, but can i ask where you went? it would be good to have a local place that has seen that sort of thing before! not that I plan on snapping my bicep, but its handy to know where to go if i do!

Reet here goes, may take a while typing with 1 hand!

Not that I had any reason to think otherwise, but I have a new found respect for the NHS in general. Aside from the initial A&E nurse who needed a little prompting that more than some casual physio would be needed, everyone has been fantastic. But she looked good in that uniform so will let it slide...Wink

So, approx 12:30pm Friday lunch time, crap deadlift technique after too much time off resulted in a pop, crunch, twang kinda sensation. Instantly knew what i'd done, strangely didn't hurt nearly as much as you'd think. Bicep rose up towards shoulder like i've no doubt you've all seen in youtube video's and twitched like it was having a bit of a fit. Which I suppose it had every right too...

Shout out to my buddy Andy who drove me straight to A&E, who as mentioned after a little prompting, made me an appointment for early Saturday morning to see specialist at hospital approx an hour from my home. There are closer hospitals, but better to see the best surgeon in the area and have a proper job done. Was told to expect surgery straight away.

After talking to specialist, he booked me in for first slot Monday morning as surgeon was busy until then. He gave me a lot of confidence and really knew his stuff.

Went to work 16 hour shift Sunday, sitting with little to do and arm propped on a cushion so not a prob.

Few hours sleep then me and wife off to hospital Monday morning.. Spoke to surgeon, said I'd be in and out same day.

Half hour later I was on trolly in very fetching gown and hat heading for anaesthetic. Can remember being told that they were injecting the drug then nothing until coming round 3 hours or so later in recovery room with a cast on and a sore throat from the tube thing. Literally felt like 5 minutes. Apparently proceedure took a little longer than expected so they were going to keep me in overnight.

Anyway, spent the next 30 hours or so generally vommiting if I tried to eat anything and being drip fed various drug. Man I love morphine!

Nurses and care staff were awesome. Didn't realise how much work they have to do, especially as I was on a ward for dementia suffers with old men screaming, battering the staff cacking themselves and wetting the bed every 5 minutes (place stank!) trying to escape, ca;;ing them all c*nts etc etc, alarms going off all night. And never once did the staff lose their rag with patients. Professional throughout. Can't speak highly enough of them. And by the way, hospital food is lush when I could hold it down, especially the fruit crumble!

Don't waste your money on the patient line tv thing though if you're ever unfortunate enough to be in hospital, only works when it wants too and costs far too much.

Anyway, bit of a morphine hazed account, i'll have this cast on for 2-4 weeks, then metal brace that gradually allows the arms ROM to be increased for upto 4 months then physio for however long its needed. Got home last night, so glad of my own bed.

The detatchment took some bone with it, they drilled 2 holes in bone and used metal wire and pins to reattch it all.

So thats it for now, thanks for all the well wishes, time for some more meds then im off to gym for some leg work!
