Me too pete! My upbringing was not like the common family. Getting up early and reading your post I read bildo instead of bilbo. I hope no one ever thinks of that one.

I had to google that, I knew they existed but I didn't know there was a word for them. I do now.

Happy

Yes. That's them. Creations of the late, great J.R.R.Tolkien.

Which reminds me of a very old joke*

"I dreamt I wrote "The Lord of the Rings" last night, but when I awoke I realized that I had merely been Tolkien in my sleep"

*There are those who claim that jokes have to be funny. Normally I would concur with this, but in this instance I will make an exception

Wednesday, 23rd September, start 1700

Last time I went heavy I doubled 250 and was very happy with it, since then my elbow has annoyed me for the last couple of days but Ibuprofen seems to have sorted it. Doubts exist though, so a 260 double is the intention which a side order of play it by ear.

Deadlift, raw
20 x 5
20 x 5
20 x 5
20 x 5
60 x 5
belt on
100 x 2
140 x 2
180 x 2
200 x 2
220 x 2
240 x 2
260 x 2
In the interests of honesty and full disclosure I have to admit that I did not double 260 but I am going to say I did.

I will explain

All, up to and including the 240 were fast and smooth and a delight, so 260 was definitely a goer, the first rep was a peach as was the second until just a few short inches from my scrotum I realized that I couldn't hold it and had to put it down fast.

The seg at the base of the third finger on the right hand was now a hole. And to my surprise I had a loose flap of bloody skin in the same place on my left hand. Handsome Jeff will provide photographic evidence later.

So that was pretty much the end of everything tonight, both hands in the one lift, what are the chances of that eh ?

Still, on the bright side, had not my hands fallen apart in rather dramatic fashion, it would have been a belting 260 double, of that there is no doubt. For training purposes, I'm counting it.

The 260s were very nice Pete, both fast and smooth, shame the hand fell apart at the last

I have posted the pics of your hands on the Adlington Facebook page, but as I am on my phone I am struggling to put it on here

You want to wrap your knees and I don't believe in half measures. Of course the suit would lead to the shirt and as you know, despite enjoying my equipped years I believe there is much more fun to be had down the classic route, that means no wraps, but I consider that a small price to pay.

The lifts actually surprised me. They were a touch easier than I expected. I feel that bands have played a huge part in this. There doesn't seem to be a downside to lifting with them

I believe the problem with your hands can be traced back to them library style descents, if you dropped the bar it would mean your hands would have less time in contact with the bar and less chance to be shredded by the eleiko knurl.
