Cooler air is more dense than warmer air and and therefore contains more oxygen molecules than warm air does for a given volume.
So if you can get cooler air into your engine, your car will be able to mix more fuel with that air, making more power.
More power = Less efficiency

That kind of ties in with what I had previously been told. Thank you

I may be faulty, but I have no reason to doubt my MAF sensor

If driven exactly the same then yes, you would increase your economy.

In reality, though this doesn't happen - When accelerating in anything other than 1st and 2nd gear, most people will use full throttle and in cooler air this makes more power and uses more fuel.

There are also other factors, when it's colder the engine takes longer to warm up (and is less efficient until it does) and as the air is denser there is also more wind resistance

Very warm again and as I progress it only gets warmer.

Squat, very raw, sleeves, boots but no belt

20 x 5
20 x 5
20 x 5
20 x 5
20 x 5
20 x 5
60 x 5
80 x 5
95 x 5
110 x 5
125 x 5
140 x 5
155 x 5
165 x 5
Earlier today, I sat in an idle moment and worked out what weights to do and what jumps to take, and I toyed with the idea with finishing at 170, about an hour or so later I decided that 165 was probably the better option. Well, tonight, as I sweated and grunted my way through this little lot it became patently obvious that 165 was the way to go. 170 didn't enter my head at all, not even for a nanosecond. I wish it was as easy as it it had been sat in my kitchen with a cup of tea, but it wasn't. This was hard tonight, not frightenly so but hard enough. The plus was that Handsome Jeff watched like a hawk, but they were all fine and it was a better set than the 155, probably due to the smaller jump. Young Brooke got her first chance to spot an old fool squatting tonight and she did it rather well, she pretended to be phased by it initially but once she realized that was cutting no ice she stepped up to the plate very nicely. Good for her. And well played handsome Jeff.

The 165 was a fine set, surprisingly so when compared with the preceding set. Had you been bold and gone for 170 I do not think there would have been a material difference in the execution or the outcome!

Very kind Jeff, I shall remember that. I will have to juggle the run up, a fifteen kilo jump to 170 may have frightened me a little.

I appreciate your confidence though

On more than one occasion I have wondered at what age lamb becomes mutton.

Today's Pointless revealed a sheep related question, "hogget" was revealed to be older than lamb but younger than mutton.

Courtesy of Farmison.com I can now inform anyone who is interested that lamb is up to eleven months, mutton is twenty four months and older, and obviously hogget is between eleven and twenty four months.

Thank you for your attention

Everything felt just a wee bit harder than it did last week and I am not sure why. Quite busy tonight and a lot going on. Chippy on the way home as the one I usually go to on a Saturday is still shut due to a positive covid test. Obviously it will be pies for tea but tomorrow's dinner has yet to be decided.

Just had a wander through the BPF website and it appears that I still hold three British records. Equipped squat M2 - 300 kgs from April 2011, classic deadlift M3 at 245 and classic total M3 at 600, both from March 2016. I doubt there will be any more and I am utterly amazed that the 300 squat has stood for 10 years. Also rather surprised that the chap who broke my British squat record of 227.5 by 20 kilos failed to out-deadlift or out-total me at the same time.

Getting closer and closer to being a genuine has-beenHappy Happy

Just three of us tonight, my old schoolmate returned for his second session, this time on the bench. Later I squatted, this time I traded the tracky bottoms for the old cycling shorts. More on that later.

Squat, raw, sleeves and boots on. No belt
20 x 5
20 x 5
20 x 5
20 x 5
20 x 5
20 x 5
60 x 5
80 x 5
95 x 5
110 x 5
125 x 5
135 x 5
145 x 5
145 x 5
145 x 5
Handsome Jeff depth nazied for me all all went well. The shorts were far more comfortable than tracky bottoms on a warm evening, especailly between sets. During the sets however everything felt a bit diifferent. Not by much but it was not an improvement. Really can't put my finger on what the difference actually was. Hopefully it will just be a matter of getting used to them again.

I finished later than usual as I had started later, and there was only me and Handsome Jeff at the finish. I stayed largely to keep him company and also because he is a very fine fellow and excells in the art of chatting.

According to Rick's journal we had only been gone half an hour or so before he rolled in. Shame that

Thanks for hanging around and chewing the fat, it was most enjoyable (as it always is). I agree it's a shame we missed the good Dr, it would have added to what was already an enjoyable night!!
