Now into my forty second year as a non smoker.

The car clock has now been "corrected" to read the wrong time like all other clocks. I would have loved to have just left it, but I couldn't

One of my local walks sees me pass what can only be described as a delux pastry product provider, called To Pie For. Obviously a clever play on an abbreviated Pie to die for I think. I imagine Jules drooling with a mouthful of pastry declaring this a real gourmet pie. Anyway, To Pie For.

The most interesting thing in Warrington that I know of. Do they do chips too ? Or is it just mash ?

Not been in as always walk before work, but it's on my list. I recall seeing mash on the menu. Not sure about chips.

Their website suggests the same. Call me old fashioned but it you have spuds and you choose to mash 'em rather than fry 'em then you just lost a culinary brownie point, wouldn't use it as an excuse to not visit the place, but I would gaze at the menu, stroke my beard and go "Hhmmmm" as I did.

They only open a shade over twenty hours a week, five hour a day for four days, so they must be coining it. As it's my coin, that's another reason for another "Hhmmm" in my view.

Having said that, they might be the best pies this side of anywhere and be, as the name suggests - to die for - when this foolishness is done, any feedback would be appreciated.
I trust your judgement on pies as much as anyones

Good mash is a glorious thing.

I look forward to being able to take you back to the Parker's for pies. Or grouse.

I don't disagree, but it does not have the same pull as a chip. So a choice between the two would be a wonderful thing, but if there is to be only one, it should be the chip. For once I consider myself to be in the majority

I would appreciate more information on their pies. I didn't realize there even was such a thing. I would go back for their grouse at the drop of a hat. I still regard their desert of those amazing plums to be one of the high spots of a live well lived.

It is well documented in these pages that I and training on a bank holiday don't particularly get on.

Today should have been my usual kettlebell squats. I rose quite late and spent the day dozing, reading and watching TV. I had a walk round the block ealier in glorious sunshine and spent a couple of hours talking nonsense with one of my splendid neighbours.

I dozed off again before Corrers ended and awoke just as masterchef was coming to a conclusion. (different channels I know but it illustrates the time well enough)

Not a single squat has been done today for the unusual reason that I never give it a thought. I forgot. Roll on the twelfth. As least I have never forgot to go to the gym.

Saturday is pie and chippy day. First stop the pie shop for three pre-ordered meat and potato pies, cold, to be warmed later for tea. Second stop the chippy, for fish and chips which are consumed while walking home.

Today, the pie shop informed me they had only one meat and potato pie as they had only been sent one so had kindly saved it for me. They had a couple of beefsteak pies spare so I added those to the order, so tonight's tea will be two beefsteak pies and one meat and potato.

Normal service will be resumed next week I'm assured. The reason for this abberation - Easter, which as we know lasts for one weekend only. Weird.

They are genuinely more famous for their pies than pretty much anything else, except maybe the mushroom parfait. The one I bitterly regret never having managed to have is the saltmarsh lamb and cockle.

Big sleeps today, up at the crack of ten which is very late for me. Reading and dozing and some TV and that will be me. Hopefully one week tomorow the gym re-opens, life will be so much better from then on.

Sometime during yesterday afternoon my right arm started aching, just between the tricep and the deltoid. Not too severe but it is constant. Not the faintest notion why, but it is still here now. I blame old age and absense from the gym. Bolloocks !

I have just read on facebook there is a planned powerlifting comp on the 13th of June where all covid regulations will be in place. Bring your own chalk, no centre hand off for bench, sanitizing between lifted, social distancing etc etc.

While I fully understand the need for all this and would not dream suggesting that it is un-necessary, what I don't understand is the need to return to competition WHILE all this is needed. We have done without for this long and can surely can last until all this is no longer necessary ?

Personally my refereeing duties are on hold until the vast bulk of these regulations are legally and sensibly done away with.
