Hyper obese Pete Member 70, 17816 posts SQ 322.5, BP 205, DL 300827.5 kgs @ 133kgs Eq | After fifteen months of ownership of my car I discovered that it has a tyre pressure gauge display hidden in the bowels of the aptly named entertainment screen. It's accurate too, but I have assured my Longacre lovely, my two and a half inch, glow in the dark, damped, complete with seventeen inch hose and alternate, rotating connexions, shimmeringly gorgeous "proper" gauge that it need have no fears, uncertainties or doubts. It is and always will remain my go to gauge of choice.

"So a $30m computer tells you that's a natural sound and you don't believe it?". He could handle the truth. This raises an interesting point. On Sunday I filled up, 20 litres and I had done 268.4 miles, a swift calculation by the old fashioned method, 20 litres equals 4.4 gallon, 268.4 divided by 4.4 = 61 mpg. However, the onboard computer informed me that since my last fill up I had achiever 62.9 mpg and yet almost everyone tells me that the computer is rigged and that the old fashioned way is the more accurate. When I inform them that I believe the computer they call me a fat fool and accuse me of doing so only because it gives me a superior figure.

It's pretty good, as your own numbers show, but it's (obviously) not as accurate as comparing the actual fuel used to the actual distance travelled .

Indeed, the only problem with the old method is that you can never be sure that you fill the tank to the exact same mark this time as you did last time. It should in theory be simple thing as the flow cuts out as soon as the end of the nozzle is reached. And as the nozzle is residing in a tube at the time it should be fairly accurate. However I have often noticed that if you try to get the nozzle to go any faster than a trickle, it will cut out and then happily carry on. In fact it would seem that like modern day smoke alarms, they are uber sensitive. So much so that I rather fancy the computer to be the more accurate. Plus it would be rather a sad thing for modern and expensive technology to be less accurate that the thing it replaced. It may well be, but I would find that rather sad

Not for any of the happy reasons I gave weeks back but for the reason that it was just getting too long. The turning point came when I was out walking earlier and the whiskers by my left ear kept getting glimpsed in my peripheral vision giving me the impression that I was being followed. I now sport a very tidy number one. Happy days. Sorry Jeff.

Hyper obese Pete Member 70, 17816 posts SQ 322.5, BP 205, DL 300827.5 kgs @ 133kgs Eq | Today I have discovered that the Epsom derby is to be run. This was for a couple of hundred years or so run on the first Wednesday in JUNE. When some years back it was decided to run it on a Saturday (about 1995 if memory serves) it became on the Saturday after the first Wednesday in JUNE. Today is JULY, I will therefore ignore the entire proceedings on the grounds that it is just plain wrong.
