Anyhoo,

As the population is getting taller, ladder manufacturers are now making ladders with the rungs just slightly farther apart.

It's called climb-it change

Ho, ho, ho

No, don't listen to a word she says. Did you know one of her middle names is Tintin ?

Wednesday, 29th January, start 16:15

Not many in tonight and it's cold and damp

Deadlift, slippers and sleeves
60 x 5
60 x 5
60 x 5
60 x 5
60 x 5
80 x 3
100 x 3
110 x 3
120 x 3
130 x 3
140 x 3
150 x 3
160 x 3
170 x 3
180 x 3
All fairly smooth and the hip didn't "nip" like it did last time. Plus the back feels less fragile, so the stretches seem to be working

Physio later, which involved some deeply unpleasant acupuncture and some worryingly loud clunks and bangs. I feel better for it though, he has added another stretch and recommends another week of hack squats, then deads the following week, and then the week after that back to some real squats.

Friday, 31st January, start 16:00

Quite quiet this week, very quiet compared to last week, still those that matter are here

Tbar row

20 x 10
20 x 10
30 x 10
30 x 10
40 x 10
40 x 10
50 x 10
50 x 10
60 x 10
60 x 10
70 x 10
70 x 10

Pulldown to chest, narrow grip
55 x 10
55 x 10
60 x 10
60 x 10
65 x 10
65 x 10
70 x 10
70 x 10
I still don't like these. much harder than wide grip, but as always that only serves to indicate that I need to do more of them. Tesco on the way home, then a man will appear to measure my floor for I am having a new one. What with that and a new boiler I may be considered by some as borderline sensible. I do resent paying good money for necessary things, I shouldn't, but I do.

Most readers may know that I pretty much don't drink. If I go to a pub I have diet coke and when at home, I will probably have a drink about once a month or so. It will either be a glass of port or a Southern Comfort. Last summer I purchased a new bottle of port and a small bottle of Southern Comfort, the port is still over half full and the Southern Comfort has yet to be opened. Suffice it to say I drink very little.

I just filled out an online drink aware questionnaires and it told me nothing that surprised me except this -

25% in the UK of men drink less than me.

Really ?

I never believed that there were people who drank less than me, but that percentage seems high.

I recall my dentist asking the question "do you drink more than 21 units a week?" on his questionnaire than everyone has to fill out every time they visit. He assured me that out of 1,000 patients only 2 had answered yes. I have worked that one out though. Maybe this has the same underlying reason ?

"20.4% reported that they did not drink"

https://www.ons.gov.uk/peoplepopulationandcommunity/healthandsocial...

And over 40% did not drink in the week prior to being polled.

Both seem very high to me, but I am very ready to accept that the bulk of my friends drink disproportionately much and often. (I don't.)

Good point well made. I do tend to assume that people I know are representative of the general population which is a mistake.

At work however, there are a few tosspots (in its original sense) and a few non drinkers. But most tend to drink of a weekend, not a great deal, and certainly not to excess, but it is regular. They will be below the 20 units mark, but it really doesn't take much to drink more than me. But I have been surprised before and doubtless will be again.

Monday, 3rd February, start 16:00

Bench, very raw, squat boots on
20 x 15
20 x 15
20 x 15
50 x 5
60 x 5
70 x 5
80 x 5
90 x 5
100 x 5
100 x 5
100 x 5
100 x 5
100 x 5

Tonight should have finished with 110 x 5 but it became apparent quite eary on that it wasn't going to happen tonight, so I lowered my sights and tried the most that I was confident of. This was it, hopefully back on track next week. Not many down tonight and it was rather chilly, roll on summer I say.

According to the Post Office, Santa's post code is XM4 5HQ. I never realized I didn't know that but I didn't.

And now I do.
