Thank you, this stretching nonsense is quite undignified. I dislike it

Very cold today, all tyre pressures were down one pound, (they were all up one pound last week) so amendments were made.

Away to Adders were Ian Mac, Glynn, Turner and young Tess were all present, than afterwards all bar Ian Mac retired to the Spinners for food and some foolish talk.

As always a range of topics were covered but Glynn shared one of a time he was working in Malta. By all accounts Malta is a relaxed place and has an higher than average percentage of cross dressers and folk of that ilk.

One night he was out on the piss with some mates when one of them, who was very drunk, "copped off" with a "lady" of dubious looks who was actually a man. Being a gentleman Glynn told the fellow of his misjudgement and the fellow was having none of it. Certainly she wasn't the best looking women he had ever seen but he was certain she was a woman. And with that they went their separate ways.

An hour or so later they met up again and this time the chap was alone. He greeted Glynn and confirmed that what he had told him had been true.
"what gave it away?" asked Glynn "the Adam's apple or the fact that her hands were larger than mine?"

"No" said the man, "it was during the discussion about fitting a V8 engine into a transit van and she knew by heart the part number of the reinforced engine mounts that would be required, that's what gave it away, after that the rest just fell into place."

In the presence of Weightlifters I am deeply critical of front squats. However as there are none listening right now I can say, for the record, that they are an excellent assistance exercise and I would not try to talk anyone out of doing them.
There is one caveat to that and I would insist that they should be done properly with the bar fully racked in the clean position. None of this "arms folded" nonsense.
It is because (see inflexibility in previous post) I cannot do this in the proper racked position and would have to resort to "arms folded" that I avoid them.
If I could, I would as far as front squats are concerned

We are always listening!! I shall report back!

In the words of Mack, perhaps you should go home and think about what you have done!! Happy

Monday, 20th January, start 16:00

Bench, very raw, pumps on as I foolishly forgot to pack my squat boots

20 x 15
20 x 15
20 x 15
50 x 5
60 x 5
70 x 5
80 x 5
90 x 5
95 x 5
97 x 5
100 x 5
102 x 5
105 x 5
So far so good with these, every week the last set seems hard and there is no more left, but every week we raise things a little and history repeats itself. No complaints about that.
Very quiet tonight, just me, ju-jitsu guy, Handsome Jeff and Mack, DrRick arrived as I was leaving and that was pretty much that. The weather forecast is for slightly warmer weather for a while. I have no objection to that.

Bodyweight as of ten minutes ago, 137 kilos, that's over three hundred pounds again. Oh dear.

Good point well made. The actual weight doesn't concern me as much as any change in weight, but yeah, 134 in the morning would be fine as that is pretty much bang on 21 stone.

I do generally weigh myself in an evening though as that is usually when I remember, mornings are for breakfast, not for standing on things.

Wednesday, 22nd January, start 16:30

Quiet again tonight, the physio said to not squat this week but to hack squat, just go as low as you can but stop when your hip nips. So I will. I have no idea what the actual frame weighs so all weights quoted are weights loaded on the frame

Hack squat
20 x 5
30 x 5
40 x 5
50 x 5
60 x 5
70 x 5
80 x 5
90 x 5
100 x 5
110 x 5
120 x 5
130 x 5
140 x 5
The good news is that I could go as low as I could get and remain nip free. Moving my feet around the platform caused an ache or two but only minor, the fact that the movement itself was pain free is encouraging and suggestive that the stretches, although horrible, are working.

I have been enjoying my own hack squat leg doms. I count the carriage as 20 (or a bar) in my log, so my top set is still 20 behind your tentative injury set, too.

That rings a bell, and even if it didn't it seems very reasonable

Yesterday evening I watched a few moments of "Richard Osman's house of games".

In one of the games the four contestants team up into two pairs and have to answer a question, the answer to which in this particular game, is always a number, then the take the average of the two answers and the nearest average to the real answer takes the point.

Yesterday's question - How far is it, as the crow flies, is it from York, in Yorkshire, to New York in America.

The real answer is 3,364, the guesses were 4,000, 5,000, 3,300 and 300,000. Yep that's right, one of them thought that it was 60,000 miles farther away than the moon.
