The path
The fork in the road!
A voice named Johnny soon echoed in my auditorium.
It said please give to Pete.

My legs ache thunderously which I expected, but so do my ribs which I did not.

I make no complaints though

do you find that sets of 10 make you want to eat steak and kidney puddings more?

I can't say that. The desire to eat steak pudding is high pretty much all the time. I cannot say that sets of ten affect it in any way.

Do you tend to order the same thing from the chippy or is there any degree of variation involved?

There is a small variation.

If eating on the hoof or whilst walking as some call it, it will be either steak pudding, chips and gravy, and for me the gravy cannot be too thin, or fish and chips. The latter is the favourite as it is much harder to spill down your shirt front.

In this part of the world most chippy's sell what are generally known as either scallops or specials, these are circular slices of potato, battered and fried and generally make the whole fish and chip experience even more excessive. And although wonderful I never have specials with pudding. Maybe I should ?

If eating indoors in the seated position, then you have to go a long way to beat, fish, chips, mushy peas and a steak pudding. Again the peas (in my opinion, other opinions are available) should be almost liquid. There are those who look askance at the marriage of fish and steak pudding on the same plate, I recall Handsome Jeff had reservations about it - until he tried it. It is indeed a match made in heaven.

I concur- -they are a match made in heaven.

What about some gravy or curry sauce though?

I always remember handsome Fred telling us how he used to ask for two forks when ordering his chippy tea so as not to seem like a total pig that he was actually being. Always makes me smile.

Gravy has been covered above, the thinner the better. No gravy is better than lumpy gravy.

Curry sauce is vile and I will not entertain it.

We all remember that. He did actually order two or sometimes three meals and as you say several forks ("so they wouldn't think they were all for me") but that is a hell of a lot of chips. That is the bit that would have defeated me, all those soddin' chips

Last night's knock on the door was an absolute delight. She was new but she will be back, by the Lord Harry she will.

A couple of the weightlifters are competing this weekend, so I will await those results with interest

Oh very much so, if I were to post the actual cost during a calendar year then strong men would weep and weak men would faint. So I won't.

I have never married and therefore never had kids so I have been saved the expense of those, the house is mine, I am debt free. I don't drink, I don't smoke, I don't travel to faraway places, I have few pleasures but this is certainly one of them.

There is an old saying that the difference between paying for sex and not paying for sex is that paying for it is a lot cheaper in the long run. I have no desire to have a relationship with anyone, I don't want to wine and dine, do chores for, take shopping and listen to the intolerable nonsense of which there seems to be a never-ending supply.

I love women but I don't want one of my own, so I do it this way. They come when I want then to, then go away afterwards and stay gone until I want them to come again. They don't mind if is a week later or a month, it's simple and there are no strings attached.

It is not a lifestyle that would suit everyone, but it suits me. It suits me to a "T" and money after all is just happiness tokens

Happy

They all are. I have a group of five that I see roughly in rotation. They are all similar and they are all different and they are all a delight.
