I work with someone that is almost fanatical about the game, and gets quite defensive when you call it 'rugby, but for poofs'. He has tried to explain it to me but I had no idea what he was talking about. My understanding is that it's rugby, but for Americans with ADHD.

I love it, and not just for the hits, which btw, are fairly pedestrian now compared to when I started watching 15-20 years ago.

Like all sports, the more of it you understand, the more enjoyable it is to watch.

^^this^^

Also I think you need either an understanding of the game or better still played it. Then you get a decent appreciation of the game and the power of the hits.
From experience the padding etc whilst it appears to protect it can also make hits more painful!

Whilst i'm not at this game I was at the Vikings-Steelers games a few weeks ago.

I watch the Superbowl final each year but like most sports I don't watch.

To be fair I've never watched a full game, I've tried but it never appealed to me.

I'm quite open to the idea of most sports, as a mad RL fan, I even try and get into a bit Union in the winter. I tried 5 mins of this American stuff earlier, nothing happened for 4 and a half minutes, just big fellas stood around getting excited about something. Their excitement was such that it had me gripped, I was convinced something magical was about to happen. Then they all ran on the field purposefully, kicked off, some guy dropped the ball, another guy got unbelievably giddy about this, then they went to a commercial break leaving me feeling a little sad and frustrated.

I love it. If you learn the rules it's great to watch. I've been to Wembley to watch it 4 years out of 6 now.

It's not in my top 3, but it is a great game. I prefer basketball personally. Ice hockey is pretty good too!

That's like saying rally driving is for boy racers compared to F1 being much better, for an F1 fan.

People need to look at each sport individually rather than just comparing it to something that they know and understand Happy
