As the title suggest Im looking for an alternative to talc when doing deadlifts. My gym has banned it. Im not too optimistic on this one but thought it would be a good idea to ask you guys. I can train elsewhere, it just means travelling out of town.

Do they allow chalk? Or by talc do you mean chalk.

Don't let Carl near your thighs, he'll probably eat them.

I know mate.

I'm suspecting that he uses chalk for his hands and wondering if they'd just banned talc or chalk as well. I can pull ok without talc but I'd be f**ked without chalk.

But seriously who needs talc to pull in the gym, just save it for comps imo.

they havent banned chalk, the problem with talc is that certain members were over zealous with it and trapsing around teh gym making everything slippy, not so good when you have the old people in in the morning

Yeah I can just imagine the old women who clean in the morning slipping arse over tit!

Icepick/Paul, I find anything over 180 becomes problematic as the bar rubs on my thighs and it grazes them quite severely. This also has the effect of slowing the rep down considerably. As such I would never consider lifting heavy with out it.

Oh well, thanks for all the replies. I will just have to travel to do deadlifts elsewhere when I start doing them again Happy
