Friday Bench - Thin red band (adds 10 - 15)

The plan is for 10 singles

Something different, see what effect it has. Amazing that 110 was fine, but I couldn't budge 120 off my chest. Crazy! Anyway, a decent session, maybe try it with 115 next time, which will be in the new year I would imagine, or maybe last session of the old year.

I hadn't had a proper evening meal on Sunday or Monday, for reasons I won't bother going into, but I went out to start training feeling quite weak and just not up for it. After the 60 x 4 I nearly stopped, but grabbed a couple of bananas and a protein bar and managed to keep going. Really pleased with an easy 130.

After the 11, I completely ran out of steam. I think if I'd just gone to 10 I could maybe have come back down again. I sat on the bench ready to tackle the down 10, but realised it just wasn't there. As if to prove it, ten minutes later I was asleep in the chair.

Will I hit 135 by the end of the year? Watch this space...

Friday Bench - Thick Red Band (adds 25 to 30)

After two consecutive sleepless nights, and a near hypo last night and a resultant headache, forced myself to train. One of those days when a training partner helps.

Equalled my pb on 110, maybe there was 112.5 there? 90 x 4 was easily the toughest set. Happy with that. all things considered. Happy

135 - fail - wtf!! Thought it had to be there
120 for 2

Possibly had an extra rep on the down sets. Never on my limit, but fatigued after the fail.

I'll try 135 again next Tuesday. It would be a great way to end the year...

Thanks Andy, getting there, considering I missed January through March recovering from sepsis and nearly gave up, comeback weight I could lift was only 80. And when I get 135, I'll only be 30 kilos off the British record I set in 2008, aged 52. When you put that in context, doing OK, I reckon. Still want 140 somewhere down the line. Happy

Friday Bench - Volume Pyramid

Last pyramid, I went up to 11 with 75 but had no energy to come back down again, so we go again hoping for a better outcome.

That lot took nearly three hours! Pleased to have completed the pyramid. The reward is that it goes up to 12 next time.

I had thoughts of attempting 135, which is why I added the 5 from 100 onwards, but the 125 wasn't convincing enough, so we try it, come what may, on Tuesday.

Really happy with that, bring on the pec cramp later. The things we do to be a hench pensh...

New Year's Eve Bench - Heavy Day

The sole purpose of today was to try and hit 135...

135 for 1 - yes!!!
120 for 2
110 for 4
100 for 6

I can't remember the last time I did 135, but I remember I was on 127.5 when I did the Scottish Bench in the summer of 2023. I remember coming back from Poland really weak pre Christmas 2022 and building back uo to that 127.5. It would probably have been early 2022. The question now is, can I see 140 again? Watch this space... Very happy with how 2024 has ended. Happy

Thanks Bill. As I said to Andy, if I don't, it won't be for lack of trying. The lack of interruptions from commentary trips has been a huge help. I normally come back 5 to 10 weaker and have to work to get it back again. Happy

Thanks Jason, that's given me a little goosebump right there, just to be on the same page as these guys. A year to get it and then maintain it. The Scottish M4 93s record is 141, so you need to add Ash Sinclair to that list. Happy
